Thailand murder

Does anyone share with me some suspicion of the speed with which the Thai authorities found, got a confession from, and then sentenced the two fishermen with the murder of Katherine Horton? Is there any campaign for more rigourous justice in the country?

Thats a bit of a mute point because they would have had a life sentence which would mean just that, no chance of parol.

But did they kill her or did she drown later. So should they have been tried for rape and manslaughter and not murder assuming that the former contains a less severe penalty?

Pleased to see my thoughts prompted such discussion. What has surprised me is the number of posts in which people say that the evidence is all there pointing to a conviction. To those I would say: How do you know? The police say the evidence is there. The Thai authorities say the evidence is there. Even a lot of the media in this country say the evidence is there. But it has not, and will not, be tested in court. I'm accused of cynicism. A cynic, according to Collins, is "a person who believes the worst about people or the outcome of events." Cynicism is not about being questioning, querying, inquisitive. It's too easy to accuse people who don't share your world view of cynicism. Ask yourself first if, even if you come up with different answers, you shouldn't ask yourself more questions before believing everything you're told. just one more point, to the whole how do you know thing. A team of british dtectives got sent to Thailand straight away, and worked with the police out there, so unless they were "in on it", I suspect the the DNA evidence was kosha.
