is this just another case of political correctness going mad AGAIN

Whilst where on the subject is their anything else we should change to satisfy all faiths

nfn - you got there in the end:)

Drisgirl - I'm really sorry. In no way did I mean to offend you. I 'm not a nasty person, I just didn't mean to be so blunt. Please accept my sincere apology. I am now feeling well and truly chastised.

Oneeyedvic - like you I am a non-believer which surely means that I believe there is no God although I accept your explanation. However, I do feel that non-believer sounds nicer than athiest, which term I like to use.

Gosh - hope I haven't upset anybody else this evening!

I

Drisgirl - that was a really offensive and snarly generalisation. I know plenty of regular church goers that are lovely people and just want to do some good, i met most of them putting my son into his church school, although I havent attended regularly for 10 years.

If you had said i find most regular mosque attenders pious that would be "wrong" and that is what is wrong with the country, we have one rule for one and not the other. Lets treat each other equally, let kids wear turbans if they wish, lets eat hot cross buns, just dont bloody discriminate against a whole group of people.

Oneeyed and Noxlumos have this one wrapped i think!!

No probs Trish - we all go off at half cocked sometimes:).

Goodsoulette - I was in case you hadnt noticed directing that comment directly at Trish - no-one else.I am not here to score points and as | said to Trish my comments were good humoured and non offensive - I even went as far as to say twice that anyones religion IMO should be personal.

Sorry you find the word pious snarly mm-hit a wee raw nerve perhaps?

P.S my mum was a Sunday School teacher - but I remain agnostic.Glad I got your back up though:)

Thanx everyone for your post, Well that was an eye opener, Been out all day/night, and got 24 post on + buns.

I,did,nt realise what a touchy subject hot + buns would be, But seriously what a complete JOKE, My kids, oops sorry i meant children for all the politically correct people out their, asked me recently what school was like in my days { i,m 44}, You start telling them about the milk races, blackboards, blackjacks { sweets for tho's who don,t remember} kisschases, cowboys & indians & the kane etc, then it dawns on you how school has changed. Christ { apologies to the correct brigade again} what is the world coming to.

I looked at my boys tonight, and thought to myself, i wonder what life will be like in 30 years, well if the last 30 years are anything to go by Gawd help us

Well said laurence - only thing is you missed out - British Bulldogs, kiss catch (how slow you went when you were being chased by someone you fancied !) - oh the memories:)Actually now you have given me something to reminisce about I'll remember those halcyon days when we went to the local park from 8 in the morning until your mum came to get you at T-Time (it had a swimmimg pool as well-paddling pool but who cares) the sun shone all the summer holidays.........bliss!!!

One people forget it that any form of phrase can be used in an insulting way. the most prime example of this is disability. I would see nothing wrong in calling someone disabled and feel that this whole business of the "mobile impared" is highly patronising and thus more insulting.

Also political correctness as it is is hypocritical. Political correctness is all about speaking without offence, well i sorry but tearing a coutries core values and traditions apart is very offensive indeed!

I know I went a little off track when I responded to laurence - but that was just a laugh.

I hate pinpointing anyone because I dont like it done to myself and I mean no offence at all to you personally lightoftruth but can you clarify your point?

What next?

Will ALL women in Great Britain have to cover their faces in case they offend a Muslim??

Walking around Brierley Hill market the other day I'm all for women having to cover up their faces, what a bunch of boilers!

Oh dear, is this an un P.C. comment,Hmmm.....

It has been said that religion is personal. I fully agree.

Whichever one you aspire to, RC, Sikh, Muslim, JW, Scientologist, all are chosen and adhered to. Most of them do not evenn attempt to force their opinion on anyone else, but if more info is required it will be given.

Unfortunately we live in a multicultural society, and as such the powers that be are **** scared of upsetting anybody. Most of the people they are scared of upsetting don't care about these crazy ideas, and regard them as a laugh (my next door is Muslim).

In my opinion it is the PC crowd, or those who want to be seen to be PC, who are the biggest threat, they are the ones making up the daft directives, scared of being banded racist no doubt. The average person of another faith just wants to get on with his life.

What next, the phrase 'crossing the road' banned.

Mighty WBA, av yo bin in Tippun lartly, they'm wuss!

Its got sweet fa to do with religion, its to do with the fact that the Headmistress believes February is too early to have Hot Cross buns on the menu, I must admit she is right......people should stop believing all they read in the papers!

You can get hot cross buns all year round. Why is Feb too early.Like I said before you can get Creme Eggs all year round now I can even buy a turkey and stuff it and have that along with a lovely trifle on Sunday - oh is that too early for some pompous Headie?

I say - get out of our faces and just get on with the job of educating our children. We,as parents, shall educate them seperately on beliefs which are pertinent to our familes.

Drisgirl you're missing the point!

Hot Cross Buns by tradition represent Easter & Jesus Christ, since when does a creme egg represent a faith?

The fact of the matter is Easter is quite a few weeks away, the kids at this particular school were asked by the TV reporter if they liked Hot X Buns and hardly any of them did, so why bother having them on the menu at all? seem to think there was a similar debate about fireworks being on sale too early. Use your brain before going off on a tangent about Turkeys & Creme Eggs

Tugger - I certainly was not going off on a tangent.

What if you as a parent choose not to inflict religion on your children and decide to let them in the fullness of time make a personal, adult decision without the influnce of outside parties, does that make them less fulfilled?

Creme eggs were representing something to do with a stone or something - dont know couldnt care less-ask Cadburys why they only sell them at Easter - in fact ask all the major chocolate manufacturers why they only sell egg shaped chocolate big eggs at Easter time?Beats me!!!

Hot cross buns - delish thats why we buy them in Scotland all year round -and we're meant to be the bigots

Tugger - why does everyone have to have a faith?Just because you probably do and others do why try to take the p!ss out of a reasonable comment I made.Bad Move. am not antagonistic by nature but if someone tries to rip it then- take what you get.I dont suffer fools gladly.:)

The most amusing part of all this is the fact that now some Christians are asking for Hot Cross Buns to be banned as they are Pagan in their origin - nothing to do with Christianity.
Question Author

Tugger, i think your missing the point, so lets go along with the headmistress and your comment that she is right, Quote to early {Feb}. so now what happens come easter when due to the goodness in the headmistress she allows the + on the buns, well surely this will be a contentious issue now for the PC brigade, as how DARE them children eat them in front of other faiths.

The headmistress is another wannabe, even her fellow colleagues, and Amazing enough the local council are against it, so how you can say she is right, Well that now puts you in a MINORITY, you & her

tugger - eggs chocolate or not, real or not have everything to do with easter as they represent new life. Drisgirl is correct!

Live and let live I think, I just dont care what other people believe but I certainly wouldnt mock it. Then again I wouldn't chop someones head off for mocking or disbelieving in my own beliefs. People all around the world have just got bored I think, nothing better to moan about.

Although I'm agnostic I do have respect for other peoples beliefs. As far as I am aware there is no law selling Hot Cross Buns, creme eggs 365 days a year after all it is commercially viable for company's such as Cadbury's to do so. What my point is why is everyone taking this stance that the school headmistress took Hot Cross Buns off the menu due to religious grounds, she has already stated that this was not the case. The papers had once again tried to incite tension amongst the different religions by stating this to be the reason, but without any proof. The headmistress has also stated that Hot Cross Buns will be back on the menu nearer Easter but I don't see the papers reporting this in big bold headlines, why not? because it isn't controversial news. I read in the Sunday Sport once that a double decker bus was found on the moon, should I take this as fact or fiction?
wow...... a double decker bus on the moon. Did they take it there or was mysteriously there when they got there
