Shall we all protest?
As a human being I find this highly offensive:-
"An Iranian paper is holding a contest for cartoons about the Holocaust, to retaliate against the publication of images of the Prophet Muhammad." (BBC)
I find this incredibly ironic considering that Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been widely criticised for claiming that the Holocaust was a "myth". In fact I think there is conference going on in Iran to discuss the "myth" at this very moment.
Now I wonder what would happen if a few thousand offended citizens went down to the Iranian Embassy (16 Prince`sGate, London) and protested?

They are printing the holocaust 'cartoons' because they are trying to come up with something that we find highly offensive, so they can turn round and say "there, you don't like it when we do it, do you" The best thing to do is ignore it. lunacy begets lunacy.

Religion really gets people fired up and this is part of the problem. In this day and age surely we can approach this subject more objectively and dismiss the childish behaviour that is occuring. Religion has a very bloody past, but no one seems to acknowledge that "their" belief is wrong or has any flaws. It seems to be a very weak argument to say that it is in the name of.... or the book says.... . We have the intelligence to resolve all our problems, but we (on the whole) choose not to.
So rather than join in with the mud slinging, why don't we resolve the issues without bringing religion into it, it's time to grow up and take responsibility for our actions and stop hiding behind something that has no evidence of existing.
Let's face it, ancient civalisations have all had their own religions, and they have all died out, taking their religion with them.
Religion is a means of control - It will prevent the development of mankind and drag us back into the dark ages unless we take control of our lives.
Rant over.....

Just so Englishbird - it's a shame logic is in such short supply in these situations.
It' s just a graphical representation of someone making a point, or even trying to evoke a reaction. If it makes you think, or challenges any preconceptions you may have formed without rationally thinking them through, then I welcome such additions.
How on earth could we condescend those who carry out these actions if we indulge in them? On the other hand, you are perfectly within your rights to protest - I look forward to seeing you there.
