I am bemused.Tom Bradbury on discussing Gordon Brown potentially being the next PM - said he may be too Scottish for the English middle class.(Leaving aside Tony Blair is Scottish).

What does that infer?Surely any nationality within GB are entitled to be PM.Are we deemed inferior or could that be interpreted as a racist remark?

Here, here 78. Just think, if well all voted for one another at the Eurovision song contest (just like those crafty scandanavians do) we could win it every year!

Peace, unity, and winning things!!!.

Do you fancy a crack at the Premiership, we'll let you have ago if you want (well maybe not Celtic, oh well what the heck, they're playing crap now too, just like Rangers). Afternoon Dris, you out of bed yet? Look a this thread almost 60 and no ones fallen out, is this a record?

Question Author

Back for another spew.

No-one has fallen out yet, although a couple did have a minor spat, because I deftly held it together.

Feb 25 - Now could that be Twickenham and would I perhaps like to see you licking your wounds about T-Time that day? You bet or even better eating your words. Thanks for your kind words of comfort BTW.

I think its abating but my legs are still shaky - believe its what you men refer to as a knee trembler:)

78 - keep the flag flying until I get my full faculties in order!!!

Question Author

Theres nothing wrong with Welsh or the N.Irish for that matter being PMs, Its maybe about time the Scots were given a break.Nox was right tho in one of the earlier postings - you wouldnt want a PM from Belfast.

Can someone please answer this Q - what or who are middle England?Where do they come into any equation. Are they the Hyacynth Buckets of this world?

Anyway I hate to disappoint you all but Scottish accent or not GB is going to be the next PM - he is being groomed and he is the best man for the job.

From a small acorn a mighty nation has grown. We are magnificent!(Football apart - but we know we are not too good)BTW Stevie - the Tims would hold their own anywhere.

Dris- I don't get that, The girls are stunning in Scotland and you are struggling with 78. He doesn't do subtlety or irony. The Girls are stunning, but I'm not one, I'm a bloke, a straight one at that! BTW, Get well soon dris, its no fun peucking ones guts up!
Sure I fancy a shot at being PM, I could make a much better job of it than Bliar, there again so could my cat!
Question Author

78 - I was directing that remark at Stevie. Not you clown:)I'm relying on you just now.

You are struggling with 78 meant that you shoot from the hip and dont try as Stevie often does to go down the ironic path:)I get him but only because its usually directed at me cos we have a history of subtle slagging!

Now get in there!!!

To finally answer your question dris, middle england are the majority of people, they have a good job, married with a couple of kids, they have a few quid put by, at least 2 cars, a suburban private house and just keep plodding along, they aren't fantastically rich or flamboyant, nor are they a shower of yobs in a council estate who screw the government and the DSS, have no job, and run a car with no legal stuff (Insurance, MOT, tax) and put a magnet on the leccy meter(!).

Right, got it now. You get that on here!

Question Author
Phew managed to get it past 66 in the thread 78 - we would never have heard the end of it.I'm trembling again!
Question Author
So they represent the entire nation 78 - bizarre!
What I meant was they represent middle england as an ideology, but it does apply to the rest of the country, just substitute England for Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland!

Am I right in thinking that 'Jakey's' represent 'middle scotland' ?

Hope your doing better Dris, you should take more water with it. A knee trembler, I believe is something quite different, and not good for someone of your advancing years. Hold on to that frame, me old girl!

No!
Stevie_c2it........You were obviously unhappy with your sad little life in England. I take it that is why you moved to Scotland and you left because we were too forward thinking for you.
You feel like a victim because things didn't work out for you north of the border. I know lots of English people living and working in Scotland and they get along with us just fine. You must be inferior.

snap-bloodysheep!!!!!- I know lots of Scotsmen working in England- most of them are doin' a dem fine job supplying us with the Big Issue!!!

The late Dr. Jeremy Bray born in Cambridge was elected Labour MP for Motherwell & Wishaw from 1974 until 1983. He then served as Labour MP for Motherwell South until his retirement in 1997. Not bad for an Englishman who would never be elected in a Scottish Seat.

Casaespana, is that the best that you can offer me, one English MP elected in Scotland? Im sure there must be more. Thanks for your help though, I knew somebody would chip in with an example. Seeing as your good on research though, why dont you help my case a little more and tell me how many Scottish MP s there are that hold seats in England? (Or more to the point how many Scottish MPs have been elected as Prime Minister in England?) I think youll find it somewhat disproportionate in comparison, as were less prejudiced down here.
If the Scots want to prove there so even handed I look forward to the day when they elect an English person as Scotlands First Minister.
Ill hold the book, any takers? Thought not!
Searchme...........So you sell the Big issue then? It is reassuring that you have Scottish suppliers or you would be lost.
Question Author

Stevie - I must be hallucinating.Did you just write how many Scottish MP's have been elected Prime Minister in ENGLAND!!!!!

Major faux pas for you. Please explain.Thank you.

Just got up to feed the cat - he was nipping my head - just cos I cant eat I dont think anyone else should either:)
