Is it a job requirement for secretary's or those in an administrative position working for politicians to:

a) enter into relationships other than a working one with the politician

b) be in dire need for an opticians appointment

or have these individuals all fallen in love with the politicians concerned (and the thought of the resulting media frenzy when news of their trysts is revealed has never entered their head, nor contacting Max Clifford) or am I being cynical?

No, actually, it isn't. I don't believe the Site Rules demand grammatically perfect English. By the way, as an exclamation mark ends a sentence, the next word should begin with a capital letter - not that you should be starting a sentence with a conjunction, of course. Happy to help.

you might bear in mind that politicians have to spend a lot of time living away from home, but in the company of secretaries and other office staff. This brings temptations, and opportunities, not always appreciated by those who live nice 10-to-6 lives in the bosom of their families (newspaper editors, for instance).

It should of course be in need of an appointment. Wouldn't like to think you weren't getting enough grammatical advice.
