i have just read this article in the bbc

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4753333.st m

I personally think that anyone with any link to huntingdon life sciences or any company which tests on animals is no better than anyone who profited from the holocaust because animal iis just as sick and pointless as the holocaust.

I trust you are a vegan.
Question Author
No im a veggie and have been for 3 years now and im disgusted with myslef that i ever ate meat!
Some Animal testing I agree with, and some not. I don't agree with testing for cosmetics, but in research for cures for things like Cancer, yes.

So, if you consume dairy produce you are condeming dairy cattle to lives of endless pregnancy and unnaturally large lactation and their male offspring to death almost at birth (this is pretty much true for organic/free range etc as well)

Murder is no way to win a change in people's attitudes.

BTW I'm sure any Jewish ABers are going to be overjoyed at your comments re. the Holocaust.

Question Author
Why would jewish people be offended about me quoting the holocuast as i am agreeing that it was a sick and horrific event. As for your comment on dairy, unless your a vegan, i asy this to you, take the plank out of your own eye before taking the splinter out of mine
Just a couple of points
- Unpalatable as vivisection is it's necessary, our laws demand tests
- UK has probably the strictest rules on treatment of animals in tests
- If animal rights loonies drive testing from this country, UK will outsource the tests abroad, animals will be more cruelly treated in regimes abroad that could not care less about animals, Spain is a good example here.

So by driving Vivisection out of UK you support cruelty to lab animals.

Light of truth indeed!
i was just wondering, lightoftruth,if someone veryclose to you was dying of a horrific disease and that the only way to cure them was to have drugs administered to them that had been tested on animals, what your reaction would be.i ask this out of pure curiosity

yep, good point scruffscat, exactly what i was thinking.

have you ever taken medication !ightoftruth? even just for a headache? who do you think they gave it to before doing trials on humans?

Question Author
Well one of the biggest lies out there is that all drugs have been discovered through animal testing. This is a foul and and odious lie and infact due to the massive biological, genetic and pyschological diffrences between animals and humans makes data from animals both useless and dangerous when transferred to humans. Also Just because drugs have been tested on animals doesn't mean that the tests were relevant, useful or valid. The drugs would have been produced more speedily and more safely without animal tests. Clinical developments may have followed animal experiments but that does not mean that there is any connection between the two. Medical progress continues despite and definitely not because of animal research.
Question Author
to fideldyfee- we all know know that animal tests are invalid as we all saw those unforunate men in the tegenro drug trial. The animal tests before hand suggested that the drug would be realtivly safe in humans and look what happened. Also i'm sure many of you know of the thalidomide scandal.
Question Author
also to loosehead. The correct way to go forward would to be outlaw animal experiments on a global scale
so is that a yes or a no then?
Question Author
I would have no problem with the drug being administered because i know that the animal experiiments behind it were useless in its development. And if anyones interested in seeing that drug development is possible without animal testing i think the Lord Dowding fund would be of intrest to you

I totally agree with what the activists are doing.

Name and shame these shareholders.

what is your opinion on the people who dug that old lady up out of her grave because she was related to a guinea pig breeder- im sure youre familiar with the story.do you condone actions like that?

Argh I can't believe that you compare the mindless senseless violence of the holocaust with a process that is designed to save people's lives. I should point out that I love animals and I'll always caputre a fly and put it outside rather than squash it, but I can see the reason behind animal tests. It's very easy to quote the examples where the process doesn't work, but no-one hears about the countless other drugs that don't end up killing people because they were tested on animals first.

Animal testing is not pointless; the government and those scientists do not put so much time, money and effort into such research just for the fun of it.

Question Author
i did not agree with the desecration of the grave for the following reasons

1. It was an action which went too far and served no useful purpose and was simply sick.

2. It being done served saved no animal lives whatsoever

The activists should have put there energies into something more valuable like a night raid which would have actually have saved some lives
sorry for my ignorance whats a night raid?
Question Author
To Dr Hungary-Just because scientists perform experiments with animals that does not mean that animal experiments are essential or even useful. Most experimenters wear white coats and drink coffee. But that doesn't mean that experimenters have to wear white coats and drink coffee in order to make useful discoveries.
Question Author
To scruffscat- a night raid is when a group an animal rights protestors will break into a breediing farm or laboratory and break open the cages and free as many animals as they can possibly can and rehome them so they may live there lives in peace. To anyone that has been involved in a night raid, I salute you!
