Some people's lives are so dull that they see a conspiracy in every action and then see fit to post it here.
Nantyboy I thought you objected the other day to what you saw as racism against the Welsh? How then are you comfortable with the xenophobic nonsense spouted by ENGINEER for example, or am I to take it that Welsh people are hypocritical?

My simple-step plan to sort this all out...
1)Everyone in the UK converts to Islam.
2)Everyone stops fiddling their taxes and having the f**king cheek to moan about immigrants "stealing" all their "hard-earned" money.
3) Everyone stops drinking Alcohol and thinking that just because "They woz born in this country" that makes them right.
Now, I personally can't see ANY problems with that :P

i also work part-time in a local pub and get so sick of hearing the same of boring arguments about immigration. The ironic thing about immigration (and i am generalising a bit here - but hey - so have most people on this thread) is that if they come from Eastern Europe its likely they are Christian. If they are from Africa its likely they are going to be again, Christian. If they come from China or the far east - Buddist/Taoist...
But Abelmouth, this thread is about a mosque. It's you who broadened the debate to immigration.
I welcome immigration, albeit not uncontrolled. Ultimately we are all immigrants to this great island. I simply have reservations about the empire-building going on in democratic countries by a religion that not only does not fundamentally believe in elections but also has shown that it is unable to control the psychopathic elements in it's midst. Here's this for another irony - an Islamist society held a conference at the Globe Theatre; yet Islam forbids performing arts, cinemas and theatres.
I'm amused that you confuse immigration with islamist terrorists. A few elements overlap yet they are essentially different. Are you sure you didn't just see a nice exposed jugular and couldn't resist? ;)

Where do people get these ideas??
Where on earth does Islam forbid films? How do you explain the work of modern Iranian directors like Kiarostami and Makhmalbaf, for instance? (And how does holding a conference in a theatre building endorse performing arts, any more than holidng it in a school hall lendorses the British education system?)
Nor does Islam have anything against elections. Some repressive regimes don't like them; but in Algeria, for instance, the last elections were banned precisely because the Islamists were winning them. The USA inisted that the Palestinians have an election recently - and was outraged when they voted for the wrong people. So who was being democratic there?
And as for the west's ability to control psychopathic elements - tell that to Harold Shipman.

Next time you watch Crimewatch, check out who the child abductors and paedophiles are.
Here's a big fat clue for you...they're never black/Muslim/immigrant.
Here's a point you should REALLY take on board the next time to write something like that...it's easy to be offensive when picking and choosing what you write about criminal behaviour.

"Where do people get these ideas?? "
It's like a form of chinese whispers. Like the Muslim Fun Day at Alton Towers...People like to forget that Alton Towers is a BUSINESS and NOT PUBLIC PROPERTY and therefore can be hired out to WHOEVER wants it. So when the story is passed around by Sun readers in pubs, the actual FACTS of the event are forgotten by whoever read the story - and they tell two friends etc....so by the time someone else down the line has heard it, it stops becoming a privately booked function that tickets can be bought for if you really want to go on that *particular* day and is turned into some kind of anti-British, anti-(*ahem*) christian day out for Islamic militants by reactionary, xenophobic bigots - who never even planned on going to Alton Towers on that day anyway!
People moaning about the Muslim Fun Day - Where they really planning on going to Alton Towers on September 17th? I think it is a sensible date to do it! It's the start of the school term and passed the summer peak season.
Alton Towers has also been hired out for gay and lesbian events and days for people with disabilities - I didn't hear too many people moaning then - mainly because it didn't reach the pages of certain newspapers and therefore is not a newsworthy event.
And the same thing happens about stories about Mosques. Maybe if all these people who moan about Mosques being built started taking themselves, their partners, friends, children, work colleagues, accountants, bank managers, refuse collectors and doctors to Church and church attendance figures went through the roof then maybe they would have some sort of point! And the great thing is - most Christians I know ( And I mean REAL Christians, not the pseudo-christians who only become religous when they are moaning about Mosques being built) actually don't really mind too much!
