What is the legal status for having more than one husband/wife. I know its not news but i did not know where else to post this

Depends on which country or US state you live in. In the UK it is illegal to marry if you already have another living spouse or civil partner. If you're divorcing, then you have a spouse until the decree absolute is served, at which point you're free to marry someone else.

If you want to cohabit with more than one man/woman at a time then there is no legal reason why you shouldn't do so without being legally married.

I think there may be some religions that accept and conduct polygamous marriages, but you wouldn't be allowed to cite these as legal marriages or register them in the state registers. The only legal marriage would be that to the first wife/husband.
