After failing to call for an immediate ceasefire when thousands of homes were being destroyed, after failing to call for an end to the israeli genocide of Lebanese people, that man Blair has the cheek to visit the country after warmly embracing the person who ordered the destruction of Lebanon. When is he being called to the Hague to answer for his crimes against humanity? can i book a front row seat.

Absolutely Dom, quite how ol' Tone's got away with ordering those Israeli soldiers kidnapping and the firing of those Katyusha (sp?) rockets into Israel is beyond me. Oh yes, and his direct orders to the Isrealis to go in and crush those Lebanese swine is quite represensible. And on top of all that, just how can we trust a man who orders innocent youths to blow themselves up in front of Tel Aviv cafes?
Genocide? Don't be ridiculous. If Hizbollah didn't hide in and fire rockets from, places containing non combatants, deaths of innocents would be considerably less, but then, like most terrorists/freedom fightewrs, they're cowards.
And just why, exactly, is it down to Blair to call for an immediate ceasefire? I detest the man myself, but at least I detest him for the troubles he's brought upon this country.

Yes why is Blair there at all. I agree with fender up to a point. Britain has pressing problems and that anything Blair says or does will make no difference to Lebanon, Israel the UK OR anythwhere else. The only honourable & constructive thing left for Blair do for the UK is fall on on his sword - NOW !!!
It would be a great trial to witness that's for sure Dom.

Why is it down to Blair to call for a ceasefire?

With the power Britain have in the world Blair missed a real chance to stand for once against Bush. Britain and European views have tended to be more sympathetic to the Palestinian occupation than the American view. While GWB is going to do and say what he wants anyway, it staggers me that Blair is willing to go along with EVERYTHING Bush wants. Yes Hezbollah took innocent lives in the recent war but the ratio of innocent Lebanese to innoncent Israeli deaths was 15:1

I'll say that again - there were FIFTEEN times as many Lebanese killed compared with Israeli people. Not only that the total devestation from the Israelis has left half a million people homeless on top of the immense damage to the infrastructure of the country. I repeat myself because the British press certainly didn't give fifteen times amount more coverage to the Lebanese side of the border. In fact even in the more left wing press, pictures and articles tended to feature devestation in Haifa and other Israeli locations over the destruction in Beirut and other parts of Lebanon.

It would have been nice for Blair, at the time, to say the Israelis shouldn't be killing so many innocent people and state on the record that it would be better if they stopped.

WM what you propose is ' like raping for womens liberation'. Do you see the fallacy in your argument??. Honest answer please.

Also you have time and again said that you do not like Blair. But you have not once mentioned what actions of Blair you condemn.
I think what Dom Tuk was trying to get at was that, despite not even bothering to get involved in the crisis when it was much more of an urgent issue, Blair is suddenly off to Lebanon now (when he's really not needed) to see how he can offer his help and condolences...

After the embarassing turn of events that have surrounded Blair and the Labor party, it's obvious why he wanted to get out of the country for a little while: 'not-feeling-too-wanted' and other dreaded issues. How is running away going to solve all your problems?
Pathetic publicity stunt to say the least.

18) Being a subservient poodle

As for 1, how many more wars would you like? (including illegal ones)
I suppose 2, the expenditure part can partly be compensated by ensuring only oil-rich countries are invaded...how predictable.

agree with 5,6,7,9,11

but they are not his departments. He may be overall in charge but his ministers are to blame and a lot of them left or were sacked.

hes probably still doing it with her. Now thats gross
So let me get this right Dom Tuk - you are saying that Blair embracing an Israelli leader is worse than the PM of Lebanon allowing HIzbollah to freely carry out war crimes i.e. kidnapping young soldiers and thus inviting retribution.
What planet are you on man.
It is obvious to any person of reasonable intelligence that the POT STIRRERS are Iran.
Just so you know I am not remotely a Blairite and I don't condone in any way what he and George Bush have got us into.
Question Author
hezbollah freely carrying out war crimes

they want a proper exchange of prisoners and what happened...the israeli war machine smitherrened everything and Blair did not even have the guts to ask them to stop.

which planet do you live on??...try reading some newspapers that is not in Hebrew.
Lets get this particular little conflict in recent time order. Correct me if I am wrong but did not Hizbollah kidnap 2 young soldiers FIRST.
Question Author
if you wish to look at a proper time frame

are not thousands of Hizbollah freedom fighters, palestinian men and women and hamas politicians languishing in Israeli prisons for decades. So whats 2 Israeli soldiers??. Or is Jewish blood more sacred than Muslim and lebanese christian blood.

Who annexed palestinian lands FIRST

or did you start reading Jewish newspapers within the last few weeks.
The British Government.
Hizbollah are a terrorist organisation - FACT
they aim to kill civilians through suiside bombs and morts - FACT
their allies Hamas were involved in the bombs used in 7/7 - FACT
Isreal are NOT at war with Lebanan but Hisbolla - FACT
the Lebanise government is also trying to stop Hisbollah
Dom Tuck, you are either being deliberately provocative or totally irrational.
A few months ago there appeared to be a reasonable compromise being reached regarding a peace settlement . All of a sudden Hizbollah, probably, no almost certainly being prodded by Iran, decided to stir things up by kidnapping the Israelli soldiers. They(Hizbollah) knew what the reaction would be so the only rational conclusion from all of this can be is that they did not want peace at this time. Hizbollah have their own agenda so don't lets think that they are any more righteous in their cause than the Israellis think that they are in theirs.
admarlow

hizbollah are a freedom fighters organisation-FACT

They have full support of the people of lebanon-FACT

the israeli genocide of lebanon has strengthened their movement- FACT

Hizbollah are matryrs to their cause-FACT

it all depends upon which tinted lens you are viewing the situation from.

so you are not right always. Domtuk is presenting an opposing viewpoint which has not been tainted by your crsading western press viewpoint.
