Why save money? I didn't see any saving or extra spending in the article.

I love that 70% Christian figure - I wonder how many have seen the inside of a church other than Christenings, weddings and fulnerals.

after reading the article i don't understand your question. unless your just looking for another excuse to muslim bash, but you wouldn't be doing that, would you?or you just don't like the direction of the headstones. when your dead, your dead man, who cares!

Well it saves money as you don't have to build 2 graveyards, and they said you cand have graves pointing in 2 directions in 1 yard as it would look ''untidy'
This is just another example of certain councils going to far in trying to accomodate and not cause offence, its ridiculous to the extreme, but has nothing to do with any Muslim request, they have said that they are against the idea,
I don't think there's any implication that it's money saving - I think you're reading that into it.

There's no implication that extra graveyards would be required infact it says there is a buddhist section

This sounds like a real non-story

thats exactly how I feel, this is not a muslim bashing post, if you read the link you will see that.
well i never knew that christian graves traditionally pointed east - but this tradition must be very very old as as i know i've been in may unorganised grave yards... whereas all muslim graves point to mecca --- sooo if you want to have one tidy grave yard you just point the graves in the one direction that actually matters to anyone (no chrisitian is going to be that annoyed re grave direction i believe) thus everybody should be happy - seem quite obvious and sensible to me
(plus families can still make special request so just in case changes can be made)
i can't see the problem - also i don't think it will save money but it will provide a neater grave yard
