Muslim efforts against terrorism

After reading the many threads about muslims in our community, I can honestly say that I can kinda understand both sides of the story. It seems that a few extremists are ruining peaceful cross-cultural relations for the majority of muslims who are good people. So I can understand why muslims are protesting about how they are being treated, but it also seems like it would be in their best interest to go the extra mile to end terrorist acts being committed by their extremist relatives. Is there any evidence of this? This is a serious question. Please don't make this into another "muslims are bad / not all muslims are terrorists" arguments. Thanks.

If we want peace in this country then the good muslims should drive out the bad muslims. They should not sit idly by and watch in contempt as the law officers try to do their business.
Having lived in Northern Ireland all my life it appears that those who shout loudest get heard, this is not to say that they are right but the good and nice people who just want to live their lives are not extremist and therefore are not heard. Perhaps this applies to the majority of Muslims and non-muslims in this country. I personally am not a political person this is just an observation I have made. Don't claim to be right or wrong.

Booldawg, I'm not sure what you are trying to show me with that link.
Me neither?
ditto, but im interested now.....
who's going to run around and clean up all the heroin addicts hopping around on crutches and other forms of white trash, while these muslims are sopposed to be doing their part?
Problem is Newtron that moderate muslims effectively give tacit approval to the extremists by lack of will to put their own house in order.
it happened in the 70/80s. I've known people who've been visitors to various Irish clubs up and down the country and at the end of every night a kitty would be collected for the 'cause' The kind of people donating were moderate Catholics, sympathetic to the struggle although not 'signed on the line' terrorists. People favour their own.
I agree strongley with this, it's the seemingly lack of effort on the part of "true" muslims that bothers me.

We often hear them saying why should they have to come out and denounce the actions of others. But for me these things have been done in their name, under the banner of their god and religion, rather than being offended about being asked they should have been out in front denouncing these sort of things without any prompting.

The general defence seems to be that it's a minority (a fact which I have no doubt is true) yet the majority doing very little about it.

maxximus - if those heroin drug addicts were bombing trains, dressing up as suicide bombers at peace full demonstrations and preaching war and destruction, I'm sure there would be no lack of people willing to sort the problem out.
