I agree that the intruder should not have got into Windsor Castle but does anyone think that the Royal Family put pressure on security etc not to harass their guests too much

We shall never know; but what is true is that you can't expect a massive fancy dress party, with all the guests in the mood for fun, and many of them "half cut", to receive the same level of security protection as,a serious State occasion like the recent dinner at Buck House for Vladimir Putin.

I agree. In Press articles guests have reported that police weren't even checking car boots. I guess this laxity boils down to the efficient searches or civil liberties argument.
