It has been reported today that one of the officers in the shooting of De Menezes has been involved in the shooting of an armed robber on Tuesday evening.

There have been claims that the officer should not have been on firearm duty "so soon" after the Menezes shooting.

So soon? It was over a year ago for gawd's sake.

A year is ample time, isn't it?

I raed this in todays paper, someone obviously thought it was ok to put him back on duty, and according to what I read, the chap who was killed was shooting at them, so it seems like a correct decision.
If he wanted to be back at work DOING THE JOB HE IS GETTING PAID FOR why shouldn't he!! The papers are trying to make out that this guy is a bit trigger happy which I don't think is the case!
Hmm... person doing his job... is this headline news? Where's my 5 minutes of fame? Oh... I'm not doing my job, I'm on AB.... D'OH.
I suspect that someone wanted to write the headline:

'IT'S PC GONE MAD'

Did you see what I did there?

Did ya?
lets see if he can make it three : an illegal immigrant , a criminal...........anyone know any muslims?
I dont understand what he has done wrong. He is doing his job after all. Its not like he was off duty and shooting random people. I dont like guns but we need some policeman to be armed with them. He obviously works in an area where he has to be deployed to these situation more regularly than little country towns like mine. If the robber had shot a member of the public or another police officer and this guy hadnt been prepared to shoot him becasue he was involved with another shooting a year before , what would the point be in him having that position.
well, I got it, sp1814, and I thought it was brilliant, wish I'd thought of it myself... So how many more does this guy have to do to earn the coveted 00 prefix, then?
What sort of person, after shooting an innocent man dead, would even want to touch a gun ever again?
What sort of person ? A person who is trained to protect us and who is doing his job. Yes, sadly, the Brazilian was innocent, but the policeman was told that he was a terrorist about to commit an act of murder. He would have been ordered to eliminate that threat - and he did.

The latest incident was more 'routine.' Shoot at armed police and you can expect fire to be returned.
