I think I read some where that under Iraqi law the sentence has to be carried out within 30 days. Not sure how thew appeal process works though.

In the paper this morning it says that a judgement will be made in mid January and if he loses the appeal he will be hanged within 30 days.

kathyan, the hanging might be even sooner that January/Feb, as for the appeal no new witnesses can be seen, only papaerwork and I doubt there is much paperwork that hasn't been seen already and even less pointing to not guilty!

they say he will hang before Xmas .Will it do any good for the country he has still got support in the country and I dont think Hanging this Mad man will do any good for this country .Keep him in prison till his support has been dealt with and his country is back on its feet .show this man he is nothing now

in the short term it wo'nt do any good, it will make him a martyr , bu in the long term martyrs become jaded& their support becomes less.

Saddam wont be hanged, he will appeal then lose his appeal but win his request to die by firing squad or die before then by some other means.

Just to add actually. All the rest of the world wanted to hear was that he was guilty. Like someone says previously, he will die a martyr now, so i dont think its in the best interest of the civilised world to carry out his death sentence anytime soon. I dont think anything will happen until mid 2007.
