As for snow affecting everything, we have to be the WORST in europe, if not the world, for being prepared for weather. We know its coming, we have satellites, powerful computers and cows that lie down yet we are still shutdown for days on end because of a little frosty weather.
School in the snow used to be ace and it was a treat to get there when the buses bringing the other 75% of the school's catchment couldn't make it. Classes were joined together and school would often finish at lunchtime but we got on with it.
However, with restricted classroom sizes, health & safety, political correctness and insurance claims ruling everything that goes on, no wonder schools are closing at the drop of a hat these days. They're too scared to stay open in case they're sued for doing it.

Yet another sign of the way this country is going to the dogs.
