I just heard something quite disturbing. The footage showed on tv of Palistinian children celebrating the collapse of the twin towers and other attrocities of that day was in actual fact footage of them celebrating the invasion of Kuwait in 1990. I do find this quite hard to believe. Does anyone know if there's any truth in this?

I don't know of any truth in it, but I certainly don't find it hard to believe. why do you? sounds like exactly the sort of thing TV would do to make us all think the worst of some innocent children in Palestine who had absolutely nothing to do with the twin towers bombing. All good propaganda for the Bush/Blair war machine innit, and gives them another reason for not making more of a concerted effort in sorting out the Palestine situation.

Guess I have more faith (which I realise could very well be misplaced) in the media. I don't have much faith in them mind you - just more than to do something as appalling as that.
Why is it so hard to believe? The pulling down of Saddam's statue was completely staged.....

That's very true Darth. Couldn't agree more. I saw a programme on Channel 4 here ( I think)....and yes I do have slightly more faith in them, where they panned the camera out a bit and showed just how few people seemed to be celebrating. Was a real eye opener for me.
I am surprised that you even asked. I seem to remember that the footage to which you refer was exposed as not being contemporary very quickly - within a few days after the events - and that this revelation was widely publicised.
So we are all in agreement then....The news reporting media are all not to be trusted low-lifes then?

Perhaps now is the time for them to publically renounce any and all use of the term "The Forth Estate" in reference to themselves?

Yup. that about sums it up Sft (god, that's three times and the year is still not over....)
