After the abduction of that poor little girl in Portugal. Is it not time that we should adopt a complete zero tolerance on animals that prey on kids. I know it is not a foregone conclusion that it is indeed a nonce responsible, but i sadly feel it is but a matter of time until it is the case. I wish that we could bring back hanging for these b##tards. Kids should be safe all of the time. Parents should not have to worry about deviants . (Footnote) Please do not post comments regarding "why did the parents leave her there ?" as i am sure they will live with that for the rest of their lives.

naomi24 I am not being rude - I am stating my opinion. You are to lazy to read report. It is too much like hard work and you have read a few words. If I was being rude, I would use asterisked words or call you stupid. I am not. I am sure you are intelligent, but to enter into a debate requires thought and not narrow mindedness. I have provided factual evidence from an independent body. I don't see how you can debate an issue going on your own unqualified 'thoughts' rather than hard facts.

Seeing as you can't be bothered to read the report, you may be interested in the FACT: 0% of low/medium risk paedophiles in the study reoffended. The study showed that the high / medium high risk paedophiles did reoffend.

hwen you say Personally, I'm not interested in risk categories which is why I didn't read the rest of the report this makes no sense. It is the equivalent of saying: Any one who breaks the law is a criminal and they should all be locked up for life. It is very relevant if the law they break is speeding, mugging or murder. Not everything is black and white, there are lots of grey areas.

Some people who are on the sex offenders register are people aged 19 who have had sex with a 15 year old. Some people will just look at them and think they are paedophiles. I like to look a bit more into the facts.

pilchard "40 year old man and a sexually active 15 year old... ok with you or not? " - don't know it would very much depend on the circumstances. If she was in a nightclub, lied about her age, he picked her up and they had a one night stand, then yes, whilst I wouldn't agree with it, I don't see how he could be prosecuted. If he was a teacher and she a student, then no, plainly it wouldn't be okay.
Please don't lump these sickos with someone that may suffer from depression. when I mentioned mental health I was thinking more along the lines of psychotic behaviour - and there have been plenty of people who have attacked other people including children when suffering from this kind of mental health disorder. There are also mothers with post natal depression who harm their children.

To quote naomi24 People who pose any threat whatsoever to children should be removed from society. Full stop

So the question still stands: Should people with mental health problems be executed

Are you saying that everyone who is a serious sexual deviant has a mental problem ? So every prisoner in jail who has been convicted of rape etc has a mental problem ? People who carry out sex crimes on innocent people need to be locked up forever ( and i mean forever ) or we bring back the gallows as the final solution. As Vic i am sure you will agree the present system of slapped wrists does not work.
You ignored this bit, Naomi:

"the danger of that is that it drives paedophiles underground and makes it harder for the authorities to manage the problem and nigh on impossible for them to get help.

It might make people feel better. But if, by executing one paedophile to ensure he never reconvicts, you allow another 5 to go undetected/untreated, then is that in the best interests of the children?"
Reverandfunk - I agree with you & have often wondered why convicted paedophiles & rapists should still be able to 'enjoy' any kind of sexual feelings!

Castration could be the way forward - that way, they might then be able to concentrate on contributing something worthwhile to society!
Although having said that, anyone who has already damaged innocent women & young children are probably past redemption!
Where did I say I was going, Neil? I actually commented that Ihad said all I needed to say on the subject.

My only further comments were in reply to you calling me a lefty hippy.

Thanks so much for the amusement ~ now toddle off and read 'The Sun'.

Can you please answer my question, where are your facts to support that these nonces have a mental illness. You seem to go on about facts, now is your chance. Oh and go and read some toilet roll as all you do is talk sh#te.
I am sure you are intelligent enough to find the facts yourself..I have no desire to furnish you with information as you seem to have so much knowledge regarding 'nonces' and rapists..mainly the fact that they started off their illustrious careers as flashers.

I wouldn't read my toilet paper..it is The Daily Mail.

As I said before, I no longer have to comment on the subject. I am enjoying your way with words :o)
Vic, anyone who breaks the law IS a criminal - and I've told you why I didn't read the full report. Some people on the sex offenders register are 19 years old who have had sex with a 15 year old. By your own admission that's only some - what about the rest of them?

NJOK - paedophiles are driven underground anyway. They can hardly operate openly, so that's a spurious argument.
Question Author
Pippa68, i knew it, you preach about facts that you cannot back up. Now you have your chance, stop hiding behind your Mail. Give us all the facts, you have shouted about them long enough.
naomi "Some people on the sex offenders register are 19 years old who have had sex with a 15 year old. By your own admission that's only some - what about the rest of them?" I am not the one calling for all of them . to be killed - you are. I have said that some of them should maybe be killed, some of them should not.

I am the one calling for a modicum of intelligence to be used and to treat cases on an individual basis.

Why is that difficult to do?

To quote you earlier "People who pose any threat whatsoever to children should be removed from society. Full stop"

You still haven't answered my question (I feel like Jeremy Paxman): Should people with mental health problems be executed

[And of course this includes mothers with post natal depression / munchausen's by proxy who harm their children.]

This is what your posts imply to me. Or maybe, can you see a gray area and realise that not everything is black and white.
'you preach about facts that you cannot back up'

If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black....unlike you, I don't profess to know all about psychology. You spout off using terms related to mental illness eg 'sick' and 'pervert' yet you contradict yourself by saying they don't have a mental illness.

My first question to you was to ask if you were a psychologist. You replied in the negative, yet cannot seem to grasp the idea that mental illness has a very broad spectrum..it does not start & finish with depression.

If you can differentiate between bad & mad then I will take my hat off to you. Much more clever than I!

In the meantime all you are showing me is the mob mentality which is bringing the country down.
Funnily enough Oneeyedvic I was just discussing Postnatal depression and Munchausens by proxy with my father.

He has counselled a few women suffering with both of those forms of mental illness.

Any chance of an answer to this previous question or some of the others that have been asked
What does zero tolerance mean?
Is this likely to be imprisonment for life or a more violent response killing of another person (sometimes more politely described as the death sentence)?
When are these animals (sic) to dealt with? Are you suggesting that the 12 year old who I worked with today who had sexually assaulted his sister is dealt with your view of zero tolerance?
What about the abuser who is a close relative - have you thought how the victim of the abuse might feel if her/his loved family member was harmed?
Question Author
Can you please read your previous posts pippa68, you have said " fact "many times after you had said something. Please show us all where you get your FACTS from.
No in response to your question, No I am not a hippy social worker.
I have 25 years professional experience of working children who have been victims of sexual, physical and emotional abuse and neglect
I have 18 years experience of working with families where children have been abused but they are non offenders
I have 18 years experience of working with children adolescents and adults who have abused children
My personal experience was being the victim of sexual abuse as a child
I can never condone any act of violence (even though I sometimes fail and am verbally aggressive). I abhor violence/harm to children and as such have spent 25 years working to protect children. But, despite working with some of the most awful atrocities committed to children I never would support the death penalty. I can not condone 'fighting' violence and aggression with other acts of violence and aggression

My question is not directly linked to Neilzulu1's orginal question but is prompted directly by some of your responses on this thread.

Quoting you at one point you said
Rudeness is a sorry resort in any debate ( I agree with you)
However earlier on you also commented
If they have half a brain between them they'll know exactly what you mean (do you not consider that rude to all of us that do not agree with you and Neilzulu1?)
Neilzulu1
Any chance of an answer to this previous question or some of the others that have been asked
Vic

How dare you compare a mother suffering with post natal depression with these people. You sound like a narrow minded middle aged man who has more empathy with these people rather then the victims.

A 19 year should check how old the girl is before jumping in bed and take some responsibility and if he makes a mistake he faces the consequences.

Most sex offenders begin by testing the water and slowly build up ther confidence thereby becoming more dangerous i.e

Roy Whiting began with assaulting children on several occasions then after being caught decided he would rather kill an innocent child to try to avoid returning to prison... other examples

Ian Huntley
Fred and Rose West
Peter Sutcliffe
Peter Duffy

Shall i go on, enough lives have been ruined or lost giving these low/medium/high risk offenders chances/rights.

Have you children?
