Good riddance! If he had listened to the people regarding the Iraq war, he may well have lasted longer. Let's hope that GB really listens to the people of this country. Time will tell.
With respect Jake, the last soldier to be murdered in Northern Ireland was in 1997 but I dont think the ceasation of these attacks can be placed fully at Blairs door. Smudge, indeed Mo Mowlam does deserve credit, I know some people who worked directly with her while she was in NI and she did not suffer fools on either side, fine lady by all accounts.
Thanks warpig - I thought she was a very nice unassuming lady too, but with a lot of strength & common sense!
Also, she wasn't full of self importance, unlike her 'boss'!She didn't shout from the roof tops, along with a great big sickly grin - she got in with the job in hand quietly & professionally! RIP Mo.
As head of a government you get the blame and you get the credit too.
I've said before that peace in NI is not just Tony Blair but lets face it, with Margaret Thatcher at the helm it'd never have happened.
Blair had to have the vision to believe that he could sell the peace agreement to all sides.
It's tempting to see politicians as all bad or all good but that's a pretty childish form of logic - as is judging such a contraversial politician based on his television smile.
