so the portugese police say that they may now beliveve that the little girl may now be dead.if they had handled the case better in the first place maybe she wouldnt.or if the parents had not left her alone maybe she wouldnt what a mess and what a waste of a young life if she is no longer with us.all involved should hang their heads in shame,and whoever is responsible should be hung.i know this post has been on here many times but someone should be accountable.i hope they are wrong and she is safe somewhere.

I still find it hard to believe that I haven't seen the parents ever upset and emotionally plea for their daughter to be returned to them - not a tear seems to have been shed. I am sure if it was my child I would have been crying and screaming for her to be returned to me.

Lankeela - perhaps the McCann's simply aren't the hysterical kind. Different people respond to things in different ways. They wouldn't have got very far in their careers if they were squeamish and over-demonstrative. And I'm sure behind closed doors there has been an awful lot of tears. I don't think they should be condemned on their public show of calm.

As for their low parental vigilance on the night Madeleine went missing, they have unwittingly proved to be the abductor's dream accomplices.

Salas - I couldn't agree with you more! Even if poor Madeleine had been safe and sound, any of the 3 children could've woken up - i.e. for a drink, or a cuddle. To find no one there would've been terrifying for a young child, especially left alone in a strange country. I also read that the poor child was farmed out to a kiddies club during the day. Strikes me as the children were a burden. Holidays are never as carefree as when you're young & single, & once children come along, you have to forfeit this to put them first. I'm very sorry this dreadful thing had to happen, but had the parents been there - it wouldn't have.
