I am not actually surprised by these latest events in Germany. I lived in that beautiful country for 28 years and, within the last nine years there, lived in an upmarket area of Frankfurt, not far from the IG Farben buildings, then occupied by the American military. Our appartment shook badly twice, when bombs went off at the American base nearby. Many of the windows in the houses around us were blown out by the blasts. About 8 houses up from us, on the opposite side of the street, was the American Military's Civilian Employment office. That too was bombed several times. At one point my work took me to Frankfurt airport quite regularly and I was there 45 minutes after a bomb blew the front glass face off the main building, killing two innocent children and their mother. This was many years ago. What I am saying is that the Americans in Germany have always been targets for extremist groups, especially Islamic groups as it would seem. It is terribly sad! Germany is a very hospitable country and I loved it there, as do most foreigners who get the chance to live there. So it makes me very sad to see news such as this most recent etrocity.
