I remember last year the BBC was prevented from making any GOOD study guides because it would compete with people trying to make money out of it. Isn't this a little unfair - I mean, it's children's education. And the syllabus - surely that actually BELONGS to the government anyway? How does all of this work?

Strange question. BBC has excellent Bitesize revision material on the web and the books are available in all good bookshops.
...although lots of people in the publishing industry DO complain that the BBC produces a lot of magazines that get free advertising (from their related BBC programmes) and may be taxpayer subsidised (via the License fee).
