may be a long shot considering everyones discussing rugby on here or europe. but any way, i was wondering if any one could give me a brief outline into the burma situation, i know whats going on currently but why did it actually start, was it the fact the monks were staging a peaceful protest? its just for a political drawing im analysing, just want to make sure the background i think is right is correct. thank you in advance

thank you but if you'd read my question you would see that i mentioned quite clearly that i know the current situation and am looking for background details.
Furl prices went up in August, so the prodemocracy activists led demonstrations peacefully. The authorites started arresting people and after force was used to break up the protests the monks got involved.
