Think it's beginning to look more and more likely that a retrial is on the cards! Like Rev says the evidence appears to be pretty weak and if he's innocent then the person who did it is still out there enjoying their freedom!!
hopefully yes he will be. i think he was skapegoated for a high profile case. obviously i didn't hear the evidence at the trial but i've seen 2 documentaries on this and feel that he was framed. poor man, let's hope this gets sorted pronto. what do you think, forgetmenot?
I think he will be. But then makes me wonder If a man like him should be free and not put in some mental home for all the guns he has and obsession with celebrities.
I don't think Barry George will be released, but there's something which stinks to high heaven about the case and the evidence against him.
Perhaps a retrial as has already been mentioned is the most sensible option...but I'm not sure whether that's possible...for a retrial, doesn't there have to be a significant piece of new evidence, or even evidence that he recieved 'a less than satisfactory defence'?
You say he was obsessed with celebrites - maybe so but what about the nation in general? Why are the paparazzi so crazy to get pics for our Heat / Reveal etc mags - because they get a high price for what the public want to see. A lot of people are obsessed - eg - what about the girl from Big Brother who was obsessed with Vic Beckham?
And what about people who are obsessed with military things, including guns?
These are most definately not reasons to put him in a mental home! What about a person I once met who has Down's Syndrome and was obsessed with Jamie Redknapp - should they be put away somewhere? No!
I hope he is released, i thought from the beginning that he was innocent, for someone like him to be capable of murdering someone in that way, it just didnt fit. The police just wanted someone to be done for it and they knew they could get him because he was a bit odd. very sad
