It's an interesting proposal, but one that I don't think is workable.

For instance, how will gang members be able to differentiate themselves from non-gang members?

Recent stories have revealed that innocent kids are becoming unfortunate victims.

Perhaps a more sensible approach would be to tackle it the problem rather than to 'let them get on with it'?

What you appear to be advocating is a kind of mass extermination of all black kids, whether they're crack-dealing gang members or clean-living A Level students.

I mean...how would it work in practice? There are only a limited number of guns on the street. Once the A Level students had been...how does one put it...'blown away'...surely anarchy in the inner cities would ensue.

I have read, only read that bodylice and whiffey are the same person, if not the same persona.
If this allegation is true, is bodylice a concession to the 21st century with the language of 'innit' which evokes rather different imagery than western armchairs, which quite frankly was something from Paul Whitehouse.

I think there's always been a widespread wish to see violent criminals cancel each other out. And phrases such as "Say what you like about the Krays/Gambinos/etc but they only ever killed their own."

I'm not bothered at all if savages kill each other but it's a rather fanciful wish as it's never that neat and clinical. Innocent peop;e almost always get caught in the crossfire. Indeed there's been a lot of kiilings recently with the ridiculous "didn't show enough respect" motive.

The uncomfortable truth is that when you import large numbers of other cultures into a country, you're importing good and bad aspects of those cultures. I think the government have to clamp down hard on the Jamaican culture of guns and the Somalian one of knives etc. And t hat means zero tolerance. No political correctness, no trying to see the point of view of the knife wielder. A lot of damage has been done in the sheer numbers of one or another culture being clustered together in inner cities, leaving them to continue their mores and customs of their old countries. The govt need to get tough, yet I know they don't have the b*lls or the will to do so.

Firstly... the teenager shot dead the other day was turkish and not black.

Secondly... the busses are already chaos SP... it's just not due to guns but due to incompetent management.

Personally I think that anyone who think's they are hard enough to carry a gun and or knife should be permitted to. Although they should first be licensed. As with the driving test they would be assessed by experts in the field. Let them go head to head with someone from the SAS. If they come out of it unscathed then good on 'em.

NO, I wasn't referring to Etem Celebi. The story I was writing about was on the local news (in London) earlier this evening.

It was the BBC London News show. I've tried looking up his name online, but I can't find the story.

NikkiB - the problem with your point about the import of foreign cultures doesn't really apply when looking at the statistics behind these crimes.

They aren't Yardie shooting...these are kids who have known no other country but the one they're born in.

Incidentally, you'd be surprised how few of these kids are actually 'into' US rappers (something else frequently touted as a source of 'gangsta style').

Not exclusively, but predominantly they listen to Grime (leading exponent - the Mercury Prize winning Dizzie Rascal).

Grime is hugely popular - acts like Jay-Z, G-Unit and the hopelessly talentless 50 Cent are much more popular amongst white kids.

A few innocent people get caught in the crossfire but it's there own fault for living in crime riddled areas. Those unfortunate bystanders who get themselves killed are probably junkies or illegal immigrants anyway so serves them right.

You'd need to arm everyone in order to ensure that the black kids who aren't in gangs have a chance of survival.

And if you actually do advocate a kind of free-for-all, what about the poor white people who still live in the inner cities???

They're innocent too...how would you protect them...or should they simply be considered 'collateral damage'?

Perhaps a more palatable suggestion would be to lease an island where we could send all the gang members, BNP supporters, racists and radical Islamic terrorist and allow them all to kill each other.

It could be televised!

Of course, to make it extra funny, we could fill the racists and BNP supports guns with blanks.

Blimey - the advertising revenue for that would be HUGE.

Surely a laissez faire attitude could result in the emergence of 'superhard megabast@rd crims' who have risen above all comers by being more deviant, more violent and better at evading capture and who have ammassed a massive cache of weaponry from their vaquished foes with with to enforce their criminal control of vast swathes of our cities.

I'm not entirely convinced that's terribly sensible...
