if the muslims and all the other cultures who dont agree with the way the BRITISH are then they know where the door is, makes my blood boil over stupid childish things like this, i was brought up on baa baa black sheep, the ******** on the marmalade jar and all things like this and so was my daughter, like someone else said we respect thier customs and suchlike covering up and removing shoes when in their country, so why do we have to bow down to them in OUR country.
Yawn.
Crap interactive book fails to get on a reading list for kids. Crap company who thought kids would like to read a story about cowboy builders (for God's sake) get sniffy.
Crap people in charge try to impress their bosses with their race relation skills.
Crap journalism allows this to get into the newspapers.
And I'm disappointed in the Telegraph who have recycled the story about Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep, which was proved false months ago. Have they hired a Mail journalist?
Ah yes...one definition of 'ethnic' can mean 'cultural grouping', but in this instance, I meant its other meaning - 'racial grouping'.
Okay...let me re-phrase - "Are you suggesting that ownership of the UK be predetermined by racial origin?
The reason I ask this is because there seem to be a number of posters who will never see black, Asian, Muslim Britons as 'British', which suggests that their views/concerns/wishes would always be classed as secondary to those of 'British stock'.
i see someone put white honky in another post, thats ok but im not allowed to put my word which wasnt meant as offensive just explanatory, just pathetic
Well I have found the book on their website and it looks awful. If there is a category for the award of the biggest mess of a book, then it would win easily.
Did you write to the AB Editor to ask for the word 'honky' to be added to the banned list?
Just a thought.
I mean, no-one uses that phrase any more (I last heard it in 'Love Thy Neighbour' back in the 70's), but if there is the odd person still using it as a term of abuse, you should report it.
the fact that in the original post it said "it may offend muslims" probably had something to do with why i said it, and our country as in the british and yes i know we have british muslims but i really think you are just trying to have a go when you know exactly what i mean, when in rome...., what would happen if i went to one of their countries and didnt cover up or didnt take my shoes of or and the list goes on, we all know what would happen
did i say it bothered me? did i say i wanted it banned? no, i just said its ok to put that but not the word i wrote, whats the difference?? it doesnt matter when honky was last used it could be offensive to some
...........................to carry on from what Supernick rightly said earlier...............NO ONE has complained...............not the Muslims...............not Builders (laughable thought).
This story was brought about by civil servants, and reported on by journalists..neither of them of any consequence in the great scheme of things.
One of the good things about being in the building trade, is being several rungs up the ladder - looking down on.......Estate Agents....Civil Servants.............and Journalists......................................ignore it :o)
Why do you keep saying 'come over to our country'?
Define 'our'.
There are millions of people in this country who's family originated overseas.
How is this more 'your' country than theirs?
Please be more explicit with your answer. I'm trying to establish whether you think that British Muslims (or other minorities) somehow have less of a claim to this country than you...and if so, why???
Also, you've missed my point about the relationship between Muslims and this story.
Has there been any protests by Muslims about this? Why are you dragging them into to it, when there has been no official statement from any Muslim group on this frankly, silly story?
You see what I'm getting at? Muslims are being blamed for no reason whatsoever!!!
If it doesn't offend you and...assuming it doesn't offend anyone else (as it's not been added to the offensive words list), why on earth mention it in the first place?
