Sometimes bonuses can be obscene, and it's ridiculous to see fat cats being paid enormous bonuses if their company is going down the tubes and laying off a load of people. However, when the company is recording record profits, and outstripping the competition, then it seems fair enough to be to give out a healthy bonus.
Sainsbury's shop floor workers are not bonused as far as I'm aware, it's a flat salary, so this bonus is a gift. The Chief Exec and sales team have salaries where bonus is a major part like any other sales team in the country. If you bring in such enormous profits then as far as I'm concerned, you deserve the credit. Every employee does an important role within the company, but when a checkout girl is solely responsible for managing a mutli-billion pound profit and doesn't get bonused for it, I'll complain
