Brixton London
To all the London folk out there, has anyone heard more news about the lady killed in Brixton a few weeks ago by the police prison van?

I have not heard of this incident and I'm not surprised. There are about ten deaths per day of the roads and I'm quite sure there are not ten reports per day on the national or even (combined) local news programmes.
On a point of pedantry, the police have not operated prison vans for some years. All prisoner transport (apart from the odd occasion where police are accompanying a prisoner in their custody) is undertaken by private security companies.
I note from the report that "tensions are running high" in the area. Why is it that when such unfortunate episodes occur in areas with a high proportion of black or asian people tensions run high? If a white "bag lady" had been similarly slain in Godalming High Street I don't believe tensions would be running high. No doubt the people there would leave the matter to be investigated by the appropriate authority.

And does anyone know if the unfortunate lady in Brixton had a history of being singled out by the police? So much singled out, in fact, that a civilian driver was instructed to drive over her?
The only details I have are those in the report provided by luckyfish. I cannot see any reference there to the victim having been "singled out".
Even if my hypothetical victim in Godalming had been so victimised I cannot imagine the residents there taking to the streets to the extent that "tensions ran high".
