So what exactly is deprived? So often the "deprived" kids are roaming around on mountain bikes, have mobile phones, are smoking and drinking, have access to good education, are not hungry or ill clothed, but still see themselves as victims.
So what would whiffeys extra money be spent on? More education? They reject that already.
Jobs? We can't just create jobs willy nilly, and as on guy from Liverpool said on the BBC programme about guns, he didn't want a chicken packers job for 150 / week, and he was pulling in 4k / week running prostitutes and drugs, and kept his gun for protection.
I can't understand why a tough policing policy should not stop and search as many as necessary, lock up those found carrying weapons or drugs, and for the courts to hand out really stiff sentences in a harsh regime.
Maybe then fear of committing crime may help deter the miscreants.
Up to now, none of the mamby pamby expensive schemes have worked, and so many of the gang members are now untouchables. The police lack of response is a joke.

There is a TV program on Sky Sports at the moment called "Where are they now" featuring ex footballers and what they are doing now.
The latest episode happened to feature 4 players, 3 were black and 1 was white.
Of the 3 black people, one was working at a school as an attendance officer, and the other two were running their own business, one a security company the other a sports marketing agency.
All three were well dressed, spoke very well and intelligently, and were well respected members of society.
With all the bad publicity that black people are getting at the moment I found it very refreshing and though how great it could be if these people could do more work to act as role models for young black kids, to make them realise they can have a good future,
