It has been reported that China will ban our national flags from the olympics.

Nothing new about this, we are pretty good at banning things ourselves.

quite right, why should the Welsh carry their flags when Wales is not a participant?
You're late on parade today, AOG..........

I am not such a sad person as some, I lead a much more varied life style.

i have other things to do, than sit at a computer, all hours of the day.

Apart from that Answer Bank is getting rather boring lately, too much girlish chitter chatter.
ooooooo - don't let the girls hear you say that........!
Too late......................!
On another note the Union Jack hasn't been banned and the countries of Britain are competing as a collective so I don't see the problem.

sits back to await possible backlash
I agree with it, this Island is competing as Britain, so the Union Flag is appropiate.
Alain Baxter dyed his hair to show the Saltire but that was banned (2002 I think it was) I'm not sure if it was wir own Olympic Association that banned it or the IOC because it was a symbol of a non-competing country.

It's time we were competing as Team UK rather than Team GB by the way.
Honestly...

British media not reporting the Antiguan murders (they all did).

Welsh flags not allowed at the Olympics (they're not a competitor).

Are you running out of things to rant about, AOG?
I agree with Tigger and Lonnie. What's the problem?
The Chinese government aren't really worried about the Scottish, English or Welsh flags. They're worried about the displaying of the TIBETAN flag. They've banned all flags except for UN nation-states' flags in order to make sure no-one flies the flag of Tibet.
I agree with THECORBYLOON about Team UK and I'm glad that there are other people out there who know the difference...

We have never been a United Kingdom, but we have been a Great Britain, and how great we were.
eh ?
So are you giving it the thumbs up or the thumbs down, AOG ?
We have never been a United Kingdom, but we have been a Great Britain, and how great we were.

The country's full name since nineteen twenty....... six? was The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Before that, it had been the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland since 1800.

There have long been dramatic regional tensions but if that means we aren't united as one entity, then I'd hate to imagine what your map of Europe as a whole looks like.
As I understand it, Britain is this Island, in its entirety, the United Kingdom is the countries within that entity, plus N.Ireland,

United because since James 1st, under one goverment, which under Alex Salmond, is likely to be undone.

aog, how do you figure we were never a 'United Kingdom'?.
