The police would have already checked to see if their passports had been used between the hours of 8pm Monday and now?
That's another reason I don't believe he did it, I do realise how much debt he was in, and I know to me and you, that's a helluva lot of money, but he had properties in other Countries too that could be sold to make start in clearing the debt.
Out of everything he owned and everything he could have sold, it really isn't an awful lot of money in the big scheme of things.
Sorry it happened in your family, HK xx

I just read this. It's a tough one. Good motive either way for murder or a suicide. The only reason I can see for the arson is dna coverup as Henry suggested, and maybe cos u then don't know if it's a suicide or even if they were there. Maybe they legged it and ran from their debts to make it look like a murder?
The problem with a murder theory is the fire and barricade: it all adds time which adds to detection likelihood.
If the guy is RIP, rest his soul etc, but he sounds like a pretty crooked individual.

The main thing I can't understand is the boarding up of the windows, who has enough MDF or Plywood lying around presumably cut to size to board up all those windows or even a few. Someone must have pre-planned that bit.
Did I just hear on the news that Police are now investigating a power cut in the area about the time of the fire.
I have another theory they are being held hostage somewhere, the house fire, shooting of the pets etc was done to make the family realize how serious the hostage takers were. He is being made to sell etc all his hidden assets to pay his debts.
Either that or a fast trip to Holyhead up the A5, ferry to Dublin, flight to anywhere in the world

what i dont understand is how either the wife of girl couldnt of escaped or no raise of alarm ie ringin of police, was done when they realised the father had lost the plot. This makes me think that its gangsters who did this as he never paid them back. And surely if his legitimate debt was that bad, he couldve sold some assets to pay that off, where as the possible debt to the wrong people, may have been unpayable or he missed deadline. my ideas a bit far fetched but i think theres something not right.
