Why could the school not have chosen an all white cast for the Nativity play, or would they then been accused of racism?
But then perhaps in this school it is the white children that are the minority, therefore there would not have been enough children to make up the cast.

Legend, the history isn't that far distant - it is only just a little over two thousand years. The Roman occupation of these islands was well before that and that period is not only well documented but archaelogically confirmed too. History doesn't alter simply because time has passed, only people's understanding of it or maybe interpretation of events alter - not the events themselves.
This answer at the start of this thread has really annoyed me- Why dont the muslims postpone their festival? Oh I forgot, they've taken over our country!!! (cherrybea) If you read the article properly it wasn't 'The Muslims' (whoever that sweeping generalistion refers to) who cancelled the play, it was the school. Peoples reaction to immigrants annoys me also, Britain has ALWAYS been a country of immigrants and probably no-one is 'true' English, 'The Muslims' are just the next phase of people enriching what has always been a multi-cultural society. Just to add- I'm currently on placement at a primary school where all but two children in the whole school are Muslim, they're not having a nativity play at all, instead they are having a Festival of Light play where they are going to celbrate Eid, Hannukah, Christmas and (I think) Diwali. I think this is such a lovely idea and much more inclusive than most other schools.
