Yesterday in Watlington Bill Stone was buried. He was 108 and had served in both World Wars to bring peace.

Yesterday in Plymouth at the same time they buried a young soldier aged 19 who was killed in Afghanistan last week.

We have learned nothing!

both World Wars to bring peace

We have learned nothing!

Not sure about WW1, and even less about Iraq & Afghanistan, we should not have even been drawn into these latter two.

But it was different in WW2 we were defending these shores, against an evil regime.

So what was the option?
The option was not to have imposed such terms on Germany at the end of WWI to allow Hitlers into power.

We may not have stopped wars but we have learnt something

That's right! It was the conditions that Europe imposed that led to the inflation in Germany and the rise of the Third Reich. I believe that Lloyd George did oppose it though!
