What do you think about the announced government surveillance which is due to begin in April, whereby all e-mail messages and mobile phone messages sent, and all internet sites accessed by the public, must have their records kept by the providers, and produced on demand. Do you think this will have the effect of reducing usage of these types of communication, or make people think very carefully before committing their thoughts and opinions to places which could no longer be considered secure. Since the initial announcement, it all seems to have gone quiet, and I wondered if you have given any thought to this. Thank you.

It won't apply to the white British population, only to enemies of the state like Muslims. AOG was delighted with this compromise, if I remember rightly.

Could you provide a link with the details of this report?

Or is this something that you have read from a Chinese State Newspaper (English Edition) that you have picked up in your local Chinese take-away?

FAO AOG. I left you a message asking a question on the assumption that you were a gentleman. I am disappointed that you chose to reply to me in a most ungentlemanly manner. I have previously read with interest many of your posts, but can assure you that I shall not be doing so again, if this is the way you answer a perfectly sensible question from someone who is a stranger to you.
The tories have dubbed it "sinister" couldn't agree more!!

Bang goes our privacy!
Wouldn't the government be better putting the 12 billion to better use?
schutzengel,

AOG assumed this was anti British propanda put about by commies, When he reads what to think in the Daily Mail link, he will be able to regurgitate verbatim what they have wrote.

I am so sorry that you took my rather tongue in the cheek remark to be offensive against you personally, I can assure you that this was completely unintentional. It was just that I hadn't heard of this before and I was interested to read a report on it.

But being in a rather flippant mood, I thought that this affair was more befitting the Republic of China, although I must admit that I did not take into account that you might have been Chinese, then I suppose this would have caused offence.

So I thought it would be a little funny to suggest that you had pickled up a paper in the Chinese Take-Away. So you see there was not any nastiness intended and I do hope that you will take my exclamation on board and come back to me.

I was suprised that you gave Gromit 3 stars for his regular contumelious behaviour towards me.

Because if you care to look back at previous posts, he regularly jumps in with his pompous demands for links to be posted, in fact in the past he would even criticize the editor for not posting links to question he/she once set.

Gromit if you are reading this, I though after I posted you yesterday you would have altered your ways, but apparently you have not, so I now finally refuse to join you in any further debate.

What, the one he responded to you and said:

AOG

I do not recall calling you senile. If you can provide a link to substantiate this claim, I will aplogise unreservedley.
(sic)

Still, why bother with facts when your opinion outweighs anything else?

AOG. All is forgiven. As you say tongue-in-cheek, and so were Gromit's 3 stars for the comical way he expressed his answer. Look forward to further comments on the news of the day. Best wishes. Schutz.. By the way I'm not Chinese either. :-)

So glad to have this matter favourably settled.

Regarding Gromit's 3 stars for the comical way he expressed his answer.

I did not find it comical, you will learn that Gromit hovers around this site, just so that he can swoop on someone, and then go on to make contemptuous and derogatory remarks against one's person.
That's simply not true AOG. (re Gromit)

As opposed to AOG who will make claims then fail to back any of them up. Some people call this unsubstantiated claimes - I call him a liar.

AOG will also not answer any questions that he feels are too difficult to answer (or admit that he is wrong).

And finally he acts in a childish way - see here for the perfect example: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question71 3686.html
