The government is planning to monitor social networking sites. Is this reasonable behaviour post 9/11, or is it another way to keep tabs on the public by an overly intrusive security service?

I agree with Zac. They know more than they let on. Maybe I'm paranoid though.

They'll be cloning humans in secret before you know it Zac...!!!
No you volunteer this stuff to the world, they're not digging into your e-mails (although they can if they want), I imagine that workers for the main political parties monitor and contribute on here too.
It probably won't do a lot of good. I wander over to Chatterbank a couple of times a day and I have no idea what anybody is talking about. They could be planning to invade Norway for all I know.

You are paranoid and they are out to get you! Ha ha. Hee hee. Ho ho. To the funny farm. Where life is wonderful all the time.

Loveya,

The government, moreso this Noo Labour shower, have been monitoring communications for years without the public knowing what they are doing.

Does anyone think that they would tell everybody what they were doing. They announce these plans as a smokescreen to hide what they are really doing deflecting the public and media gaze away from the real monitoring.

Think it through.
