Racial foreigners
41 Answers
I am English by birth and British by nationality and proud to be so. I run my own business and contribute to the local community by way of community groups and charitable organisations.
My parents are Sri Lankan and so some people would use the term British Asian. Apparently, this is wrong according to the BNP - I should be referred to as a racial foreigner.

Even worse: The manual describes the BNP's "ultimate aim" as the "lawful, humane and voluntary repatriation of the resident foreigners of the UK"
Whilst I can understand peoples view on immigration and border control, how many BNP voting people are happy to actually 'send me (and my ilk) back' to a country for which I have no affinity and can't even speak the language of?

I came here with my family when I was 8 I don't consider this my home or that I am british, but this is the country that gave me and education and a chance in life and I respect the UK...
This silly man (not to call him any worse) makes people like me feel that we are not welcome here...
It's very upsetting and frustrating

I will be honest and say that I have been very vocal in my anti-immigration comments on answerbank over the years.
I feel one of the worst things this country has done in the last 30 or so years is let in so many Black and Asian people who just dont belong here.
However I am aware that many of them have made a positive contribution to this country.
And I am also aware that any plan to send people "back" to a country their parents or grandparents came from is just not practical.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel is considered one of the greatest Britons, and yet his father was French and he was born in France.
Do we dig him and and send his body back to France?
After watching "Who do you think you are" on BBC TV you realise how many famous people you see on TV that you considered British through ahd through are in fact the relatives of people who only came here in the last 50 or 100 years.
People like Ester Ranson have relatives who came here fairly recently, as do many other people.
I think the biggest problem is all the illegal immigrants and fake asylum seekers who come here and cause trouble or turn to crime and it gives all immigrants a bad name.
I think "immigration" (in all it forms) it one of the biggest problems facing this country today.

"I came here with my family when I was 8 I don't consider this my home or that I am british"
Why not?
", but this is the country that gave me and education and a chance in life and I respect the UK... "
but not enough to consider yourself British, it would seem.
"It's very upsetting and frustrating" - Indeed it is.

I agree with you immigration is really bad in this country... But people like my parents who came here to work and give their children a better future don't deserve to feel like they do not belong here...
Illegal immigrants and even the legal one who come here to cause trouble is what boils my blood...
My own race that are in the UK are a disgrace they make me feel ashamed sometimes of being where I am from because of how they are, but when I go back home everyone is lovely and its just so confusing...
I just don't think we should all look down on immigrants and BNP can stick it where the sun don't shine for me they are nazis and need to burn in hell...

I don't consider myself british because I am not british, I was not born here and it is not my mother language...
How about you go and live in spain for 14 years and then consider yourself spanish simply for the fact that you lived there so many years...
I go back home as often as I can to see family etc... Back home is 'home'.
I will forever but thankfull and grateful for all the oportunaties this country has given me and my family and I try to contribute as much as possible, but I cant call myself british when I am not british...

I may not agree with VHG but he has the guts to stand up and say what he believes in.
So many hide behind others to say what they think or because they know they are being unreasonable or are not in tune with the norm they will not openly say 'go home johnny foreigner' but VHG has at least said what he believes.
I like that at least.

Oh dear...you would have to be particularly simple to think that Black British people were anything other than British.
Foreign residents?
How very, very, very stupid.
Does anyone seriously agree with that?
Does anyone really think of Alesha Dixonm, Frank Bruno, Wiley, Sir Trevor MacDonald as foreigners.
Conversely, even though Madonna and Kylie have been long time residents of the UK, you would still consider them as foreign because we know that they consider the US and Oz as home.
Wonder whether they would be 'voluntarily repatriated'?

SudFB, I would not go to Spain unless I was willing to become Spanish. I realise that is rare, I sympthise that you are full of waste of space Brits who belive the grass is greener, I would not be one of them. I believe that if you think your own country is not suitable for you to live in then emigrate by all means but adopt that country as if you where born there. End of.
Getting back to the question - should OEV be considered a 'racial foreigner'.
How would that work on a practical basis? Are there any BNP supporters here who could clarify what legal and social position people who were born in this country from immi...
Hang on...forget that. What about third generation 'foreigners'???
We're talking about black Britons who are the grandchildren of West Indians who came over in the 1950s?
Should they be considered resident foreigners?
Where is the line drawn?
And does this only include those of non 'northern European stock' (as per the BNP website)?
Really curious about this one.

When I joined the Army in the early 60's, (volunteer), My ID card and Passport had me as 'British/English', you don't get that now, but I was classed that way because my Father was born here of foreign parents, (they came here to escape persecution), and my mother, who was a 'War Bride', was foreign.
How it worked then, was that if both your parents were born here, regardless of origin, and you were born here, you had English nationality.
Sadly, there's no such thing now.
But having said that, i've read the BNP Manifesto, and it scares the living daylights out of me, i'm in the same boat as far as they are concerned.

Honestly how ignorant can you be?
Poeple do not leave the UK because it isnt 'good enough for them' they might simply want something new...
''I sympthise that you are full of waste of space Brits who belive the grass is greener''
I wouldnt know as I am not spanish...
''emigrate by all means but adopt that country as if you where born there''
I think an actual spanish person would laugh if you say I am spanish lol
By the way what do you mean by adopt the country?
So if you are the type of person that keeps moving abroad and lives in my different country then what happens???
I was not born here, english is not my first language, my blood is not english, and neither is my passport... therefore I am not english I am proud to be from where I am from... and if you cant respect that, then thats your problem....
Like I said before this country means alot to me but is isnt my home... and I think I am not the only immigrant that feels this way...

I didn't mnention anything about you personally, yes I am embarrased about British expats abroad, I only explained my position. I am happy in England and I'm English, I would not go to another country and then tell them how wonderful England is, I would learn their language and respect their ways, what is it about that you seem to find so abhorrent?
