Racial foreigners
41 Answers
I am English by birth and British by nationality and proud to be so. I run my own business and contribute to the local community by way of community groups and charitable organisations.
My parents are Sri Lankan and so some people would use the term British Asian. Apparently, this is wrong according to the BNP - I should be referred to as a racial foreigner.

Even worse: The manual describes the BNP's "ultimate aim" as the "lawful, humane and voluntary repatriation of the resident foreigners of the UK"
Whilst I can understand peoples view on immigration and border control, how many BNP voting people are happy to actually 'send me (and my ilk) back' to a country for which I have no affinity and can't even speak the language of?

Think it is a bit sad that you don't speak Sri Lankan though.
Many supporters of the BNP probably haven't read their policy on immigration but to be fair how many voters have read the policies of the party they vote for?

R1, out of interest what's your view of 'indigenous' Britons who don't identify as British?
Personally, I probably tick several of the criteria for qualifying as British (I was born and raised in England, my father's family is Welsh, my mother is partly Scottish and second-generation Irish). I wouldn't say I consider being 'British' to be part of my identity (though I used to...).
Have I failed to 'adopt' the country I was born into?

It would be very interesting indeed Naomi.
I remember this programe on the BBC where they tried to tried to find someone who was 100% English but failed to do so.
There was this really stuck up upper class woman and it turned out that she was descended from Roma Gypsies. She went mental and even tried to take the BBC to court over it.

As I recall, she wasn't just descended - she was very recently descended nudge nudge wink wink

There wouldnt be so much of a problem if all ethnic groups were willing to marry in and breed with each other in the UK. From what I see ethnic groups within the UK are far more hung up on preserving their purity of their genetic group.
Even the TVs image of a cross ethnic relationship is a black man with a blonde woman! - no other format.
You'll never have a true 'melting pot' all the time cross ethnic marriage is strictly taboo.

The rise of the BNP is correlated with the increase in population from those of a dark colour. The government have allowed this to happen over the past 3 decades knowing that trouble was brewing. The BNP believes that Britain is no longer British and whereas patriotism is inbuilt in all of us they see this slipping away. This is evident where some cities ban Xmas, the English schools are disadvantaged by a multilingual language, the shortage of accommodation taken by immigrants and now in this recession a lack of jobs.
Therefore you should not show your anger at the BNP but weak successive governments unable or unwilling to ease the flow.

I have given BNP a vote once and I said this before here. Reason was that they wouldnt have had a single vote in this area had I not done so. So their candidate must be confused that who gave him a vote as his own family members might have gone against him. So I tried to confuse him.
Yes, I am Asian without any doubt Pakistani and proud to be, my wife is white British. And we are happily married for almost 15 years. I don't give a damn how Mr Griffin thinks, all I know that I started paying tax almost a week after I landed here and have done that for over 18 years until made redundant at the end of January 09 and still not claiming any benefit and never has done so. I hate people who cheat system and damage the country where they live in, but few loopholes in the law are to be blamed for that.
All in all Immigrants would never have come here had British people never thought that certain jobs were too inferior for them to take on.

You all seem to be missing the point, all I'm saying is if you live in a country then it must therefore be you favoured place to live, right? So why not give it the respect it deserves and favour that nation above others. I can give you an example, a chap I work with has just been naturalised, originally from South Africa he now says he is British and supports England over all others in sporting support for example, that's a perfect example of what I'm talking about. If I emigrrated to Spain I would support Spain end of story because clearly Spain is my preferred place to live. I don't know why that seems so strane to people.
I'm the one usually castigated for certain views now some of you seem to find this strangely alien to you.

Well that is peoples choice wether they want to favor over all other nations...
I was brought here to the UK when I was 8 I had no choice but now I am use to living here, If I could live anywhere probably some tiny island but then again wouldnt find work.
The reason people come to the UK like my parents was to get a better job and be able to provide for their family as back home they were struggling to get work, they didnt choose UK because its their favourite country the chose it because it where they could do well.
Obviously we accept britishs views and values and special days they celebrate but I still wont consider myself british.
If your not from the EU then those people would most probably want to be nationalized and call them selfs british because that way they can stay here without problems.... I am from the EU so I can stay here free regardless...
I am proud to be Portuguese and always will but I also respect the UK as I plan to make a future here and have bring up my children one day here too.

I really don't know much about the BNP apart from the fact that they seem to hate people that they have never met based solely on the person's ethnicity. They are arrogant and ignorant people.
On AB we are of only two colours "green" and "black".
I resent people coming to the UK to claim benefits - but that is a whole different argument and my keyboard is playing up.
