Help for the over 25's??

Yesterday, Alistair Darling announced all these initiatives to help the under 25's find work, apprentice schemes and the like.

What about us over 25's who are out of work, can't feed ourselves and/or our family and with our homes at risk? Us who have paid our taxes for years and years, the taxes that are now bailing out the waste of space banks?

Do we not matter anymore? Are we not considered worthy of help?

Are there no factorys near you that you could work in until something you want comes along? Just as a fill in

No. The industries up here are predominently Oil and Gas, Fishing and Retail.

I guess round here theres alot of food factories which is probably why we have all the portuguese.

I see - well be glad we are bailing out the scumbag banks.

If we didn't and they wen't under they'd foreclose on every business they'd lent money to.

Most of those businesses would then fail and the number unemployed would skyrocket

It's what happened in the 30s -

It's maddening but doing nothing would be a disater outside of anything that few of us have ever seen.

But more practically - I found that it is hard getting back into work and you have to keep slogging away at it even when you feel like giving up.

I don't know your situation but I got back into work again with contract work so don't overlook that

Nobody is starving in UK! Quite the reverse as most seem overweight. That = too much food! No-one was overweight in the 40s rationing days in UK.

Ilm sure tambo was just saying what he/she was thinking. I think its hard for everyone at the moment. Lakitu I really hope you find a job soon, at least you are looking which is more than some do

Thinking about it I;m sure my mate who was on the streets got fed more than me just by begging all the time. lol The local cafe used to give him dinner everyday. lol

I live in a very affluent area, but even here there are people who have lost their jobs and can't find work, and are now really struggling to pay mortgages and keep their families fed. It's not as easy as some seem to think.

I know, Jake, I really do understand the Governement are bailing out the waste of space banks for the long term good.

I've been applying for jobs on staff and contract basis, fortunately I'm living in an Industry where contract is the norm, it's just getting my foot in the door that's the struggle. x

It really doesn't help his case, 4get, if he hadn't made an assumption aboutme personally, then he's making an assumption that ever over 25 in the land a) has a mortgage, and b) has a 125% mortgage.

Yes, I do have a mortgage.
