Why is president bush deemed the most powerful man in the world? How come other world leaders aren't seen to be as powerful as him?

Don't know, but guess due to the size of the American economy and the size of their military(but possibly not in that order). Having nukes also makes a man fairly powerful!

As Oneeyedvic says, they've got the biggest military and economy in the world, plus the world's financial institutions in their pockets - WTO, IMF etc. This makes them some way more capable of realising their objectives than any other country.

And it's not him who's the powerful one...it's the aides who tell him what to say through that 'intricate mike system strapped to the back' thing!
