Yes yet another one bites the dust. Among this individual's claims are:
�730 for a massage chair because of a back problem.
How many out there with back trouble, could trot along to their GP and get a free prescription for a massage chair?
You would still have to fork out �7.20 for a few pain killing tablets.
�2,600 for a home cinema system, including a 40in flat-screen television - which was halved by officials after it was first rejected.
And �65 for a court summons for not paying council tax, which he has agreed to repay.
And this is the 'Justice Minister' no less that is a contradiction of terms if you like.
But Brown in his wisdom states that he won't be replacing him yet, so it looks as if he is keeping his job open for him to return.

Ice, someone is going to win whether you vote or not. You have an opportunity to influence the outcome by voting for one who has behaved himself, so I'd take it. If the innocent are punished along with the guilty, the guilty will only conclude that it didn't make any difference in the long run anyway, and that's a bad message.

Very true jno - in all that you say in your last reply. However, it's not just this latest scandal which puts me off from voting. I read the local manifestos and can't agree with much of what I see. I doubt my one vote'll make any difference at all, and I'm not really too bothered. If my vote helped to get another party into power, then my vote'd upset as many folk as not (if I could get a survey on how my vote'd affected anything). My own life won't change at all, whoever gets in, and for those whose will, I can only hope that their own vote counts towards what they want.

Back to the second homes...why?
Just because they live outside London, so what..many people live outside London and have to get up @ 5am and commute to and from London...they are just milking the system set up by their own kind and now it`s come and bit them on the arse!

Apology accepted ice.Maiden, O2:17 far too late for me.
I suppose I am of the old school, I was always taught that no one decent is around at that time of the morning, only Burglars and Ladies of easy virtue.
Please don't take that personally, I am not saying you fall into one of these categories.
I was just highlighting, how times have altered and the way we were taught right from wrong.

Pity he didn't get in first like Cameron.
some expenses are perfectly legitimate, and that includes owning a second home if you're out of London.
No need to OWN a second home payed for by the Tax Payer.
If accommodation in London is indeed necessary (and that is a matter for debate) then more humble accommodation should be provided by the state and basically furnished, and then when a MP loses their seat it is then passed on to the next incumbent.

oldgit, I'm not greatly concerned about who did what first, but I agree, it makes Cameron look more decisive.
I also agree that they don't need to own a home, though rental would be an expensive option; you suggested using the Olympic village after 2012, and that sounds like a good idea. Perhaps the state could also provide a basic constituency office and (small) staff, to save them the trouble of furnishing it themselves and claiming on it. You'd still need to scrutinise the costs of this, though, ortherwise we'd just have Parliament as a whole ripping us off instead of just the occasional greedy MP.
