I loved the Matt cartoon in the Telegraph last week, which said it all:
Picture of youth getting his 18th Birthday Card from Mum and Dad - "Congratulations, son, on becoming a suspected paedophile......"
This whole business has become ludicrous. One of my relatives took some photos of his son at a Cub sports day, in the presence of the boy's grandad. His malicious ex reported him to the police for taking pictures in of the youngster in his"underwear" i.e. shorts, singlet and trainers. He was arrested and his camera and work PC gone through, before the police finally recognised they had "been had". No apology, mind!
Recently. a toddler escaped from his mother, who was distracted for a moment with some shopping, in our local High Street and ran towards the road. I must admit, I did stop and think dare I touch this child to stop him running into the road, when once it would never even have crossed my mind.
There was a TV programme a little while ago, which had a couple of lost children in a shopping centre and watched how many people obviously saw them, but did equally obviously did not want to get involved - they asked people afterwards who had ignored the child and many said they thought it was too risky in case they got accused of doing something they shouldn't. The best some would do was to tell a security guard.
Things can only get worse, with a quango like the ISA, staffed with nutters who will start to justify their existence by proposing ever wilder new restrictions - no new dad can touch his baby until he shows his ISA check........... and as for taking a photo to send to Granny - Blue flashing light time!
