Crooked MPs: Where Will It All End?
An MP, ironically in charge of the committee charged with policing Commons' expenses, has been found with his nose in the trough to the tune of £30,000.
He has resigned in the midst of this scandal and that of an extra marital fling. Is that it? "Oh, okay then, I'll resign and that's the end of the matter" That seems to be the attitude of some of these MPs.
What chance of this character being prosecuted? A pig's chance and no chance I would say. Yet another scandalous example which is bound to be swept under the carpet - again - if his peers have their way?
How can we ever trust any of these people again? And they expect us to vote for them at the forthcoming General Election? "Oh hello, Hi there, is that a Mr Nick Griffin" ???

In addition to paying this mortgage, the taxpayer has also effectively subsidised this mans property empire when he sells the property for a profit.
Fortunately, action has already been taken to close some of these major loopholes of the system to prevent just such false claims.
Not entirely sure that i would agree with you regarding the chances of being prosecuted. It is my understanding that at least 6 MPs have been referred to the CPS for criminal charges - others may well follow.I would be happy to see the majority of those MPs highlighted over the last year prosecuted, but given that most MPs were following an unstated policy of successive governments in using the expenses system to supplement MP income to avoid any negative press coverage of MPs voting themselves salary rises, only those who have most egregiously abused the system are likely to face criminal action.
Not entirely sure I understand your last sentence - Are you saying that due to public disgust at the MPs actions, this offers minority party and independent MPs, such as Nick Griffin, a better chance of being elected to Parliament in the next election ?
