blimey, I inherited my nationality from my parents but I didn't know I could inherit their tax status too. As it was 'genteelly impoverished', I could certainly do with it. Still, if the Tories do away with any inheritance tax, I will be able to inherit their half of Borsetshire without paying duty on it; Osborne can raise the taxes on the poor to make up for it.
It is usual for MPs to lose their moral compass in the course of a long government (it happened to Major's, rather more spectacularly than to the current Labour crew); it is less common for them to demonstrate their greed before they get into power, as seems to be happening at the moment. But I suppose 'flaunt it' has been the mantra for quite a while now.

I am sure we could find examples like this on both sides (and in the minor parties).
Three of the four facing criminal charges for MPs expenses are Labour.
"Lord" Mandelson was throws out of the gocernment twice for illegal activies but now seems to run the country.
John Prescott claimed for "tudor beams" for his house on expenses, how "working class" is that.
And of course, last but not least, how much has Tony Blair MADE out of being Primie Minsiter.
I am afraid people from all the parties have examples of snouts in the trough, tax evasion, expenses fiddling, mortgage fiddles, insider dealing on shares etc etc.
Maybe government just attracts those sort of people (and I am aware they are not ALL like that).
