While not willing to make a comment on this ruling, I would like to borrow a statement from it, and I would like it to become the the criteria of all Q & A news posts.

/// CENSURING 'UNCOMFORTABLE'' REMARKS WOULD REPRESENT 'A SLIDE TOWARDS CENSORSHIP' ///

Disagreeing isn't the same as censoring.
Indeed

As long as we're all quite clear that Racist, homophobic and completely offensive in no way are pseudonyms for "Uncomfortable"

"Racist", "Homophobic" I do believe there are laws to make these unlawful, if they are proven to be so.

"Completely offensive" wasn't this what was in question?
AOG,

I reported one of your threads for the first time recently. It was not because I disagreed with you or that the posts were uncomfortable. I reported it because you were making yourself look ridiculous. I was attempting to end a thread to save you further embarrassment, as I would not wish that upon you.
I do think some people are too quick to report questions and the editor seems too quick to remove them.

If people have extreme views, they should be left there for all to contest, criticise or ridicule. The editor should only remove those for which they might incur liability.

Ah! It hit a nerve did it, I thought it would.

What a load of "codswallop" you expect me to believe this do you?

You tried to end my thread because I refused to stand down to unfair criticism, and if you had succeeded you would have been strutting around this site like a turkey cock.

Thanks to the ED though, (who couldn't see what I had done wrong), it has now become rather an embarrassment for you, but rest assured I will continue to make every bit of capital out of your mistimed strategy.

I think that is what you must suffer for having the audacity of trying to close an opponents post down, especially when that person has not committed any offence against the rules of the site.
you don't agree with censorship, then?

Hard core porn on the telly okay with you, is it?

In the name of fairness, you missed one out for some reason:

"AGREE"

Once again not a very good analogy.methinks.

How far do you wish censorship to go?

Now we are back in a Stalinistic state.
I was wondering how far *you* wanted it to go. This question seems to suggest it's a bad thing. But you're happy with Cameron banning his daughter from listening to the fragrant Lily Allen. So is it "proper authority = banning something I disapprove of" and "censorship = banning something I approve of"? Or what criterion do you use?

(And when I say 'you' in that last sentence, I mean anyone.)
But you WERE embarrassing yourself, AOG.
This is what I wrote when I reported your thread

// I am reporting this question to save AOG embarrassing himself any further. //

A brief sample of other posts on that thread were:

// You are now making yourself look a total idiot aog. Leave this alone now.//

// Lottie is not trying to gag you. She is suggesting that you might gag yourself, as several others have also hinted. //

// I think we should leave this question up, actually. I have a feeling it might come in handy as a point of reference. //

As I said, I have never reported you before even though you are consistently offensive, racist and sexist. I agree with Quinlad, if anyone posts bigoted material, I prefer for it to stay so everyone can make their own judgements of it.

When and what was this post of AOG's about ?
Question Author
I have nothing to be ashamed of simply because my post got an hysterical over sensitive reaction from some.

The question is below:

http://www.theanswerb...s/Question861825.html
In summary:

- Gordon Brown feigns grief, shedding only 'crocodile tears', for the death of his own daughter.

- Because he shows more grief for the death of his own offspring than for British soldiers, he is a hypocrite and undeserving of any sympathy.

Gromit
You cannot cowedly wheedle yourself out of this one, so stop digging, you are making a complete idiot of yourself.

/// As I said, I have never reported you before even though you are consistently offensive, racist and sexist.///

And if I were such a lesser person, I would report you to the ED for publishing such offensive terms.

Offensive? I am not, only to those who are offensive to me,

Racist? I am not, just because I dare to criticise other races, who are not slow to criticise my race. I also feel just because the perpetrator of a crime happens to have a different skin colour, it should not excuse that person or persons of their misdeeds.

Sexiest? I am not, just because at times I find the need to criticise some members of the opposite sex.

What I admit to is the fact that I speak my mind, and are prepared to defend my words.

Unlike such as Gromit, who will at times post a controversial news story, even if he has to get it from his hated Daily Mail.

He then makes no personal; comment either way but will post either side of the argument and then sit back and read others committing themselves to taking side on the argument.

In other words a Coward,
AOG. Re: your penultimate paragraph.

You seem to be criticising someone for taking a balanced view and seeing merits on both sides of an argument - rather than raving dementedly in favour of one side or the other.

That can't be right can it?
Question Author
No you are wrong the person I am referring to, makes no comments of his own.

He may do sometimes, if he finds the majority of posters are in agreement with him.

He will then come from his cover and then safely disagrees with the minority.

This makes for a coward in my eyes, or at least a person of very little personal convictions.
