Would Whites only, Blacks only, Roman Catholics only swimming sessions, be allowed?

I wonder if only Muslim female staff were allowed in attendance?

Inspektor, you need to revise this - 'The Sikh religion and catholics in fact most religions do prefer that people convert'. I know quite afew mixed marriages and none of them have converted to the other or even suggested conversion with the exception of Islam.

I quite like the idea actually... since we believe and encourage equal rights.. can we request a Christians ONly swimming session???
Or perhaps - Athiests Only Swimmers session (sorry if I spelt it wrong!)
Then each religion - or non religion can avoid mixing with others of different beliefs!

They do a mums and tots session at our local pool. Since I am neither a mother or a tot, I presume that I can't go.

Secondly - Inspecktor, I don't know where you get the figure of 51% from? I do agree with you somewhat in your view of Clippety using the girl for sex but then my view is that my daughter would be wise enough not to be used for solely sexual reasons unless she was compliant in the act as Clippety's ex seemed to be during her night visits. However I would sincerely be so disappointed and definately voice my disagreement if her actions were as Clippery's ex until she at least reached the age of around 35 - then I would rather not know of her sexual adventures.

This is nothing new about this story .You find many in a similar vein going back at to at least 2005 (that's as far back as I could be bothered to look for stories where the newspapers were getting their knickers in a twist).

Its the same as any other private hirer session. They probably bring their own attendant or sign a disclaimer that they don't want one. In which case its perfectly reasonably that the staff use the 1hour 30 minute session for training purposes.

The sessions are posted smack bang in the middle of the pool schedule hardly secretive.

I wouldn't expect them to print up a special staff training/muslim swimming sign just in case somebody saw the pool was shut, went home, checked on the site and then contacted the national press due to the outrage of a segregated swimming session.

Sorry I'm late with this one, I reported once before that this happened at the swimming baths at Batley, West Yorkshire in 2002. The manager was ordered to set aside a 1 hour evening session per week for** Muslim women only** . He had to use his own budget to have leaflets printed and have them circulated around the town. He also had to use female staff only which he had to rely on recruiting them from other centres within Kirklees at high overtime rates.
This proved very expensive and the response was 2 swimmers who had that pool session to themselves for 13 weeks before the council called it a day.

i was not allowed to use a swimming pool once because it was being hired out to a womens group trying to lose weight after pregnancy. dont see nothing wrong with it.
