quinlad. I agree with 3 of your points but not that one about inheritance. I don't know where you get " 6% of the richest " from because in the London area quite modest 3 bedroom houses are subject to IHT and when sold there is also £10k+ stamp duty to pay.

There's not a lot of point, in my experience, in asking Youngmafbog - or any other of his ilk - to "think" or "avoid generalisations" or answer specific relevant questions.
They 'think' in mantras and vocabulary fed to them by their own daily comics (Mail/Sun), so expecting any real cogitation or any form of direct personal response is like asking pigs to fly.
