An impressive structure or a complete mess?

At first I though the later, until I was informed by an inside source that when it has been built it will cast a shadow of the London Olympic symbol over the whole Olympic site.

it looks as though someone's tied a knot in the Eiffel Tower, doesn't it? I don't hate it (and I rather like Anish Kapoor), but it looks peculiar, and hardly a symbol of London or the UK generally.
i can't believe that they are happy to spend £19m on such a folly when a hospital project i am working is struggling to get £2m for a 1960s ward upgrade.
Ankou only a few sick people and there friends will see your ward, that lump of steel will be on postcards, tv , stamps etc for the whole of the world to see.
yes, but if you times it by nine, then that's a lot more sick people and a lot more friends getting better or having a calmer more aesthetic experience during their last few days of terminal illness. its oncology for teenagers.
Funny we should only see it come to light today of all days don't you think?
Ankou i agree with you , i was being sarky
well it's an impressive structure and a complete mess! By all means build something impressive but tidy it up a bit! I guess I'm just not arty farty enough!
ah sorry, thought you was saying it will be a national icon and enhance tourism to .... stratford, therefore improve economy.... yadda yadda.
Don't tell me you've been suckered by this?

spotted this on aol news this morning

Stars of BBC1's 25-year-old show EastEnders will appear on limited edition 20 and 50 pound notes, the Bank of England has revealed.

A print run of 250,000 of the sure-to-be collector's items will enter circulation in May, nationwide.

EastEnders, which is celebrating its 25th year throughout 2010, screened a live episode in February to mark 25 years to the day since the first episode aired.

Show producers have agreed to let viewers pick which characters will appear on the currency in a UK poll and have confirmed that the selection will include characters from 1985 right up to the current cast.
It is an absolute disgrace that this prestigious commission has gone to an Indian immigrant, but what you you expect from this Government who need all the immigrants to vote for them in May.

And when the Corus steel plant on Teeside has been mothballed, it is a slap in the teeth for every British working man that the contract for manufacture has gone to the Piloofra plant in Mumbai.
it seems an elaborate hoax if it is, what with little models an'all.

but i am wondering why the oda haven't mentioned it on their website
This is the thing about alot of modern art/architecture - it's almost impossible to tell whether it's a deliberate joke or not.

Assuming it isn't (it's in several different papers) I quite like it.
...the thing is, if it does turn out to be an April fool, the thing they SERIOUSLY want to build will no doubt be alot more ugly and stupid looking than the joke.
oh no, you dont mean a 400ft statue of boris johnson do you..... ?!
Excellent!!!

The Piloofra Plant LOL

Gromit - I don't think your translation from Urdu is quite right

It should be spelt Pilloofra
We must preserve this question - complete with its datemark - as a prime example of certain posters' discernment and judgement.
Zeuhl

You are right

You say Pilloofra, I say Piloofra
You say Taleban, I say Taliban
