Can the image of Islam be improved?
http://tinyurl.com/37hbde3
Surely it needs to "start again" or are they saying that they are going to create a fluffy bunny image to hide behind whilst carrying on as normal behind it?

The actual site makes for interesting reading.
Can anyone really believe this is Islam they are talking about?

Grass up who?
Like the father who shopped his own son?
If you don't run with that sort of crowd then you won't know anything about it.
The press love that nonsense some Imam makes a statement and that's what "the Muslims" think.
It's no more pertinent to say Nick Griffin or Oswald Moseley spoke for the British.

Don't like the way Musilms in this country appear to allow violence to be condoned (why isn't the so called 'silent majority' speaking out against terrorists?) and the way their womenfolk are disregarded and treated as second-class (third class?) citizens. Can't stand the way women are forced to suffer pain (see my previous posts) at the behest of their so-called fathers/husbands/brothers/sons. I know of women who are not allowed to learn English (why?? is it because they would then learn of their legal rights in Britain? or could read newspapers, listen to the radio or watch tv?) and who aren't even allowed to leave their homes unless accompanied by a male family member. Not sure how Islam could improve its image in Britain. Maybe addressing some of the above issues would help. Chopping up daughters and putting them in suitcases is not the way forward.
Lindylou, you'll find similar behaviours in every country, many of the problems you cite are peculiar to sub-continental Asia. Even countries within the Confucian corpus had issues with the rights of women (that's why China abandoned it in 1905).
If you want to talk about terrorism how do you describe the bombing of a house in Yemen killing 51 people many of them women and children?
How do you justify the same in Pakistan?
Both are done by drones, Obama jokes about their use, the fact is roughly 1 in 3 of the victims of these attacks are innocent women (men too I suppose) and children.
We're not at war with either country, what right do we have to do that?
Where's the condemnation of it in the press or on the streets?
Or do you support these missions?
