We constantly hear the cry, "couldn't they find a black actor to play the part of a certain black person, or someone who is disabled to play the part of a disabled person", etc. etc..
So why do they need to choose two Indian persons to play Hitler and his Mistress?

If they're good actors they'll get away with it, it's not as if they're black skinned Nigerians or something like that which would be somewhat odd.
Does he look that much less like hitler than this man?

al jolson was a white guy, who would not be allowed to black-up and play a black guy, if he was alive today.
Of course he'd be allowed to...it's just that no-one would pay money to see that.
The same way that no Hollywood film studio would be so gauche to make a film like Birth Of A Nation or Freaks in 2010.
Thank God.

You know very well that this is incorrect, if he was alive today his shows would be a sell out.
Just as "The Black & White Minstrels Show" viewing figures would hit the roof, if they were allowed to put this show back on telly.
I think one would have to be a very narrow minded black person, to find these at all racist or offensive.
In fact I would say there would be more white persons of certain political leanings, who would find them racist and offensive.

Al Jolson was a man of his time. It's not possible to say that if someone who was popular in the 1930s was working today he'd be a sell out.
Is there anyone under the age of 60 who wouldn't feel extremely uncomfortable at blackface entertainment. It simply doesn't make any sense in the 21st century.
Music hall died out in the early 60s. This is because the kids of the 60s weren't interersted in what their parents enjoyed.
Variety died out in the 70s. This is because the kids of the 70s weren't interested in what their parents enjoyed.
All successive generations create their own entertainment.
The only people I suspect who would be entertained by white people dressed up as black people from the late 1920 are people who are very, very old.
