It seems even the Liberal Dutch are starting to see through them.

It is apparent you clueless on Dutch Politics Geezer, but as usual that does stop you from jumping to the wrong conclusions.

The Christian Democrats, the equivalent of the Conservative Party, are the losers and have suffered a huge defeat. They were the largest Party in the Governing Coalition.
Projected election results showed the Labor Party and Liberals tied for first place. Now lengthy coalition talk will start with the new Government likely to be more to the centre than previous.

So if anything, the Dutch have moved to the left.

so why are they shocked?
Geezer,

The centre left did well. The far right did well. The centre right (Conservative CDA) did badly.

// The ruling centre-right Christian Democrats (CDA) got 21, losing half their support and prompting an emotional resignation from Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende. //

It could be possible that the CDA form a coalition with another right Party and the far right party of Wilders, to cling onto power.

Or the centre and labor parties could form a coalition and form a Government.

As in this country, the Dutch seem fairly evenly divided with no overall clear winner. That means the minority far right could be Kingmakers.

It's all double Dutch to me.
I think the Dutch like the Danes are getting very tired of many of the Moslem immigrants (not all of them) who refuse to try to fit in with the Dutch society and make demands that seem very out of place considering the fact that they chose to live in our country.....the land of the freebies. Hmmmmm.

I must hasten to add that in no way can our Danish very mild right wing party be compared to the Dutch right wingers.

I'm not a political animal but this is how it was explained on Danish TV last night.
