Your example contradicts what you've just written.
The respondants in the survey were giving their answers blind. They weren't identifiable and their answers wouldn't be traced - so they WERE answered privately.

I think what you're thinking about is anal sex. I think you may be right that a majority of men may cringe at the thought of it, but then again, perhaps the men interviewed in the survey understand that they're not being asked to think about anal sex - they're just being asked if they're cool with gays.
...and it turns out that a surprisingly high number are. Let's assume that there were an equal number of men and women surveyed...I suspect that more women were okay with gays because straight women tend not to get hung up on the sex aspect of gay relationships...whereas with a minority of straight men, it seems to be the be all and end all.
Still, have you got any figures to back up your point? Do you think you might be projecting your own views and extrapolating them?
